‘Scary Poppins’ whines to CNN that her new gig was torpedoed by ‘disinformation campaign’

The former head of Homeland Security’s Disinformation Governance Board sought to put her own spin on her very short tenure in charge of the entity as Nina Jankowicz appeared on CNN to whine about her fate and to blame everyone but herself for a really bad idea that couldn’t have picked a more cartoonish person to head it up, a major contributing factor in its demise.

Ever since the announcement of the appointment of the rabidly partisan “Scary Poppins,” as the leader of what many had referred to as President Joe Biden’s “Ministry of Truth,” the bizarre social media activity of Jankowicz as well as her own peddling of disinformation including Trump-Russia collusion conspiracy theory have come under well-deserved scrutiny.

This week, the news that she had tendered her resignation and that the board has been “paused” was reported by cry bully reporter Taylor Lorenz of The Washington Post, who portrayed her as a victim of “coordinated online attacks” from “right-wing” media figures who cost her the job, and not her past online activity which should have disqualified her as a loopy, biased partisan hack unfit to be the nation’s censorship commissar.

On Thursday, Jankowicz appeared on the self-proclaimed “most-trusted name in news” where she found a sympathetic ear in “CNN Tonight” host Laura Coates where she played the victim and lashed out at critics who she all but openly accused of working on behalf of Vladimir Putin.

“This absolutely could and should have been communicated better, I wanted to be communicated better, but the reality is that the type of disinformation that DHS is charged with combatting or addressing is stuff that keeps Americans safe and secure,” Jankowicz said of the ill-fated board.

“So, let me give you an example, I mentioned FEMA before and let’s say disinformation from an adversary like Russia, China or Iran is putting people in harm’s way during a natural disaster,” she added, plucking a hypothetical out of thin air.

“That is the type of thing we were trying to support our colleagues across the department in doing,” she continued, gaslighting the audience that the DHS board would not be involved in political censorship, “and unfortunately and ironically we were undone exactly by a disinformation campaign coming from folks who apparently want to put our national security behind their personal and political ambitions.”

Following the host’s claim that critics aimed to “sow distrust” over the authoritarian entity that she was preempted from leading, “Jankowicz said, “Well, you know, DHS is an extremely large department. 250,000 people work there, the department had other priorities. It’s got a huge mission set and so at the time of the rollout I think there were other priorities that were kind of put ahead of this rollout of the Disinformation Governance Board,  and unfortunately, the advice that I had given was not heeded about how to communicate openly, transparently, and rapidly.”

“And we created unintentionally an information vacuum that was filled with falsehoods,” she said, “and frankly directed a lot of vitriol and digging into my own personal life that I think was entirely disproportionate to the amount of power I had at the department.”

The “falsehoods” that she could have been referring to included the video that earned her the nickname of “Scary Poppins.” a bizarre posting by Jankowicz of her singing about disinformation to the tune of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from the 1964 Disney classic, “Mary Poppins” in a performance that was deservedly mocked.

There was also her bawdy rendition of a song at a Christmas party, not to mention an extensive history of conspiracy-mongering and outright fascism, including her suggestion that criticism of female Dems like Vice President Kamala Harris constituted a threat to national security.

“And as a result you, know my family and I have faced threats almost every day for the past three weeks,” she claimed on CNN. “I don’t think that that is something anybody should be priding themselves on, and frankly the lies and falsehoods that were spread about the Disinformation Governance Board, as I said before, this childish behavior is putting the national security of our country behind this sort of partisan vitriol.”

“And we need to stop that because it’s our adversaries who recognize that that partisanship, that politicization is exactly what they can manipulate and why America is vulnerable to disinformation right now,” she said.

Whether Biden’s “Ministry of Truth” will be resurrected under a different name is yet to be seen but Americans should all breathe a big sigh of relief that Jankowicz won’t be in charge of it.
