Pelosi on complaints about sending baby formula to border: ‘Babies are crying, we need to get them food’

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) deflected when ABC “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos asked her about the nationwide baby formula shortage.

Instead of providing more specifics about what the Democrat-controlled Congress is actually going to do about the crisis, Pelosi opted to criticize a GOP lawmaker as engaging in “irresponsible” rhetoric.

U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), has repeatedly called out the Biden administration for having no plan to solve the dire shortage, as ex-Bill Clinton operative Stephanopoulos described it, while at the same time allegedly shipping the needed formula to the southern border for the benefit of illegal aliens.

The empty shelves that American families keep seeing in stores are “unacceptable,” and the open-borders, “American Last” Biden administration is responsible, Stefanik claimed on Twitter as part of a series of similar messages.

U.S. Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) claims that she was tipped off by Border Patrol about the pallets of baby formula, a picture of which she shared on social media, that are allegedly being stockpiled for illegal immigrant families.

“As usual, her statement is totally irresponsible. Babies are crying. We need to get them food,” Pelosi responded about Stefanik in the video clip embedded above, without identifying which babies are in need.

In a somewhat incoherent manner, Pelosi then rattled off the names of her Democrat legislative colleagues and their committee jurisdictions that no one cares about and how they supposedly will address the shortfall.

These efforts supposedly will “lower some of the regulations, et cetera, so that it’s easier to buy…50 percent of WIC — so loosening that,” Pelosi asserted.

The federal WIC appropriation is known as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.

Another committee, according to Pelosi, will attempt to provide “some funding, so that we can immediately purchase overseas…Chile, Mexico, Ireland, the Netherlands that have supply that might be available to us.”

“The president is quite correct. We must do something as quickly as possible, but as safely as possible, and use caution for these babies. But we have to move quickly to do that,” Pelosi insisted. “And part of this is, again, the supply chain issue.”

The Biden administration, however, still has not effectively addressed supply chain disruptions even after all this time.

Stefanik, the third-ranking House Republican and Trump supporter, as well as a new mom, has said that she’s been warning the Biden administration since February about the formula shortage, to no avail.

According to Stefanik, Joe Biden “has totally failed babies, parents, and families.”

On Friday, “Pelosi sent a letter to her fellow Democratic colleagues that indicated the House plans to consider a bill that will give emergency authority to the WIC (Women, Infant and Children) program to address supply chain disruptions and recalls that led to the shortage,” The Hill reported.

Although Stefanik, a rising star in the Republican Party, describes herself as Ultra-Maga, she did vote in favor of the additional $40 billion appropriation for Ukraine even as the baby formula crisis, and other serious domestic issues, go unresolved.

Former President Trump hardly was shy about condemning the idea of  more cash going to eastern Europe given the ongoing needs at home:

“The Democrats are sending another $40 billion to Ukraine, yet America’s parents are struggling to even feed their children…it’s is a national disgrace…It is unthinkable that in the year 2022, American families are unable to get baby formulas for their children…American First!”
