The rush to send $40 billion to Ukraine at a time when there are grave domestic problems that are receiving scant attention from elected leaders hit a roadblock when U.S. Senator Rand Paul singlehandedly blocked the package, citing his loyalty to the United States over a foreign country.
On Thursday, the Kentucky Republican stunned his colleagues by derailing the fast track process, insisting that an inspector general be appointed to oversee the spending of the funds included in the gargantuan financial gift to a country that has long been notorious for its political corruption.
Senator Paul’s resistance to a lightning-fast vote puts him at odds with Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell who claimed that the Ukraine giveaway is the “the most important thing in the world right now,” putting him in lockstep with President Joe Biden and the entirety of the Democratic Party.
According to Paul, “My oath of office is to the U.S. Constitution, not to any foreign nation and no matter how sympathetic the cause, my oath of office is to the national security of the United States of America.”
“We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy,” he added, citing record gas and diesel fuel prices, staggering food costs and the highest inflation rate that the nation has seen in over four decades.

Paul took to Twitter to explain the reasoning behind his actions.
“My oath of office is to the U.S. Constitution, not to any foreign nation. Congress is trying yet again to ram through a spending bill – one that I doubt anyone has actually read – and there’s no oversight included into how the money is being spent,” he wrote on Twitter.

“All I requested is an amendment to be included in the final bill that allows for the Inspector General to oversee how funds are spent. Anyone who is opposed to this is irresponsible,” he wrote.

He added, “While I sympathize with the people of Ukraine, and commend their fight against Putin, we cannot continue to spend money we don’t have. Passing this bill brings the total we’ve sent to Ukraine to nearly $54 billion over the course of two months.”

“It’s threatening our own national security, and it’s frankly a slap in the face to millions of taxpayers who are struggling to buy gas, groceries, and find baby formula,” Paul said, daring to suggest that the government is indifferent to the suffering of Americans, including mothers who are unable to find baby formula to nourish their newborns.

Video quickly resurfaced of deceased GOP Senator John McCain denouncing Paul, who has been consistent in his criticism of foreign wars as being in the service of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, strong words from a man whose warmongering was only exceeded by his zeal to put American troops into harm’s way in conflicts of dubious benefit to the nation.
John McCain WARNED us about Rand Paul when he said "The Senator from Kentucky is NOW working for Vladimir Putin."

Paul’s resistance drew a spirited response from Twitter users, both from those praising him and others who predictably smeared him as a Putin puppet among other things.
.@RandPaul is a legend!!! We need 100 of him in the senate.
Most Hurt: BIG WAR/Mil Industrial Complex, DC insiders getting Raytheon kickbacks, and generals looking for board seats… and those looking to get into a nuclear war over two corrupt NON-NATO countries. https://t.co/qX1sV6U2lo

God bless Rand Paul. This, not the neocon patrioteering of Dan Crenshaw and Adam Kinzinger, is what courage looks like right now. https://t.co/9AVz2cIQoH

Rand Paul is a national treasure.🇺🇸

So let me get this straight, @RandPaul stopped the $40B Ukrainian/Zel giveaway to something just by asking where the money was going? Hell, let’s do this all the time.

Rand Paul is putting Americans First!
— Troy Nehls (@SheriffTNehls) May 12, 2022
Thanks to @RandPaul, we still have time to BLOCK the $40B Ukrainian Slush Fund that puts America Last!
Call your Senators offices and tell them to vote NO!

Who wants to tell Rand Paul that masks work, women are people, and Putin isn't his president? 🖐️

Bathroom rug head Rand Paul is a traitorous Putin-loving fraudulent soulless sadistic immoral shitbag and he can go fuck himself every day of the week.
— Ricky Davila (@TheRickyDavila) May 13, 2022
Rand Paul,is a Russian asset. His loyalty to to Vladimir Putin. Not to the people of Kentucky.
— The Ghost of El Guapo (@schachjohn1) May 13, 2022
Paul’s insistence on accountability will only temporarily delay the transfer of the money to Ukraine, a matter that the entire political establishment is unified on regardless of the pain that is inflicted upon ordinary Americans.

Congress and DC Establishment are upset because Rand Paul stopped their stealing from the American people? How stupid are We The People to elect these thieves to Congress.
What I don’t understand is why the European Union is not defending Ukraine, one of their own. The U.S. is NOT the policeman for the world. Then, there is the Budapest Memorandum, where Russia, the UK, and the USA signed an agreement to protect Ukraine in return for Ukraine giving up their Nuclear weapons. It is obvious that Russia’s word is worthless. Where is the UN?
Well done! We have absolutely no business being involved with this Ukraine debacle in any way except maybe as a PAID supplier.
Everyone who is happy about this is still perfectly fine with sending Israel over $80 billion every single year.
correction. Its $3billion a year
The USA does not send Israel $80 Bil annually. The US aid to Israel is MUCH less than that. Israel doesn’t get $40 Billion in 10 years.
Viva Rand Paul. America first. Fack Mitch McConnell and Schmuck Schummer
Totally agree with Rand Paul and Ukraine should repay the money plus interest and the should buy all food – equipment- tools – technology- building materials from the USA .
Two of the things that will send liberals into apoplexy are President Donald Trump and oversight on their spending plans. Cannot have the voters finding out where their money actually goes. It would doom the liberal agenda which, all things considerd, is not a bad thing.
SALUTE RAND PAUL it’s people like him and MTG and RON DESANTIS and DONALD TRUMP that are actually for the American people and our well being people like turtle McConnell Adam POS kizinger and lizard chenney that don’t give a damn about us we need to get these fake back stabbing RINO’s out of there America is WE THE PEOPLE not we the congress #VOTE THE RINO’S OUT
Tell that dead man John McCain to screw himself, never did like that man and his family nothing but losers. Now for Rand Paul he got my vote, why should we sent money to Ukraine when we have enough problems here in our country, that No nuts Biden and his Democrats party screw the American People he is as worthless as a $2.00 Bill.If anybody is not American it’s Biden and his Family and the Democratics. Let all band together and Make America Number One.
Senator Rand Paul does not have to explain himself. We, the people totally agree with his position not to send (rush) 40 billion to Ukraine. That amount of money would benefit the people of the US. And how about ALL the baby formula our government is hoarding at the Southern border? They would rather take care of the illegal aliens before the American people.
Finally a man with guts. We’re done with the handouts filling Democrats pockets.
Thanks Senator Paul. It’s about time someone in government exercised a brain cell as well as develop an ounce of integrity.
GodBless Rand Paul . Where are the rest of our Senators with courage , common sense and integrity ?
Thank you Senator Paul for thinking of what is best for the USA. Senator McCain was a RINO. Let’s Go Brandon!
Thanks, again, Senator Paul. Great to see someone with a spine stand up and represent “we the people.”
Please awaken Senators Cruz and Hawley. They should be joining you on this.
How about getting Cruz and Hawley to to stand up for the babies that don’t have formula in this country because it’s being hoarded at the southern border for the illegal aliens.
I’m sure it will go through anyway because all the politicians from China Joe and his handlers on down want their cut of the 40 billion after they launder it in Ukraine. FU K China Joe and his handlers and all the politicians.
Nigerian scammer
All the trators who want to put Ukraine or any other foreign country ahead of the United States should dig into THEIR OWN pockets and give them 40 billion. Then they can move there and leave the rest of us alone.
When the senate goes Republican in November, make Paul the leader and send B*tch McConnell over to the White House, he’s nothing but a Democratic lackey anyhow.
Paul better be careful, Nina and the DGB goons in their brown shirts will be gunning for him now.
PS: John McCain was no great upstanding Senator. He didn’t get to be part of the Keating five by being honest, least we forget.
John McCain was an unflushable crook.
Rand Paul is a hero and true conservative and finally someone is standing up to McConnell and the other RHINO’s that want to send 40 BILLION (that we don’t have) in unaccountable money to Ukraine to continue their proxy war against Putin. Another RHINO Lindsey Graham declares, “let’s take out Putin” and says there is “no off-ramp in this war” — also continues to suggest a No Fly Zone. “We can win this war on behalf of Ukraine,” he adds. No compunction whatsoever about announcing that the goal is US-imposed regime change. So I guess we are in another undeclared war that was neither approved by Congress or the people. Except that this “war” will not last 20 years and is not against an illiterate third world country but a nuclear Superpower and may start WWIII.
And let’s not forget that Ukraine is not a “Democracy” but the corrupt government that accepted a Billion dollar bribe from Joe Biden to fire the prosecutor that was looking into his son Hunter’s money laundering scheme.
Let’s call the $40B what it is. It’s hush money.
Thank you Paul Rand. People like Pelosi, Schumer, and McConnell just are lining their pockets, we all know it.
And how about those scumbags get the baby formula off the southern border and get it into the stores for “our” babies
Good for him. Biden and the dems trying very hard to desyroy the stability and independence of this country.
Doesn’t appear you’re getting paid very well if you’re advertising here in a comment section. Care to share how many viruses your link leads to?
IMO, probably a scam! Poor way to do business.
Go Sen. Paul! About time America got some consideration!! We have an invasion at the border, there’s plenty of baby formula according to reports for the illegals, but not for American babies. Just who is this bunch being paid by? Illegals??? I think not!
I am seeing an influx of what look like illegal alien males in Walmart recently. Thursday late in the afternoon around 5pm or so there were about 10 men in front of the checkout lined up at the ATM none of which were speaking English. So now they have invaded my neighborhood. That’s why I carry. I don’t trust them.
Gotta love all the headlines, “Rand Paul single-handedly blocks $40billion aid..”
So the vote was 99-1, and the 1 vote carried the day? Wow!
Finally some good sense coming out of D.C. Breathe deeply because it’s rare, especially these days.
So what I’m seeing is that there are plenty of people that are willing to help with the baby food shortage by paying out of their own pocket! They will also pay for gas for truckers to be able to deliver food to us from the food companies that haven’t been set on fire. That’s the only reason these losers would put other countries before our babies and others. Oh crap! As I’m typing this I’m remembering the left is all about killing babies, so I suppose the losers are correct. However will the left meet their daily quota of murdered babies right now with the Supreme Court in turmoil? They refuse to do anything for the babies here and send more money to anywhere else. Bravo, Dems, bravo! Your moms would be proud if they haven’t already been wishing they had aborted YOU first!
the commie-left’s solution to the baby food shortage is more abortions.
