Reaction pours in after Musk says Trump Twitter ban to be reversed

The worst fears of the unhinged left inched a bit closer to becoming reality when billionaire Elon Musk not only denounced the ban of former President Donald J. Trump from Twitter but said that he would restore his free speech to the platform once his deal to purchase the San Francisco-based tech giant is finalized.

Musk triggered Trump haters when, during a remote interview at the Future of the Car conference in London, the conversation turned to the controversial ban of the then-sitting president who had the plug pulled on him in a unified action by every big tech platform shortly after the so-called “insurrection” on January 6, 2021.

Speculation has swirled about whether the Tesla/SpaceX CEO would maintain the “permaban” on Trump if the deal for Twitter goes through and on Tuesday, he gave his most in-depth answer yet on what he called a “morally bad decision” that was “foolish in the extreme.”

When asked “Are you planning to let Donald Trump back on?” Musk provided a long, thoughtful and nuanced answer while acknowledging that the former and perhaps future POTUS has said that he had no interest in returning to Twitter.

“Well, I think there’s a general question of should Twitter have permanent bans,” Musk began. “And you know, I spoke with Jack Dorsey about this and he and I are of the same mind which is that permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for people where they’re trying to… for accounts that are bots or spam-scam accounts where’s there’s just no legitimacy to the account at all.”

“I do think that it was not correct to ban Donald Trump, I think that was a mistake,” he continued, “because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice. He is now going to be on Truth Social as will a large part of the sort of the right in the United States and so I think this can end up being frankly worse than having a single forum where everyone can debate.”

“So, I guess the answer is that I would reverse the permanent ban,” he said. “Obviously I don’t own Twitter yet so this is not like a thing that will definitely happen because what if I don’t own Twitter?”

“But my opinion – and  Jack Dorsey I want to be clear – shares this opinion, is that we should not have permanent bans,” Musk stated.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki reacted to the news during Tuesday’s press briefing.

While Psaki exercised restraint over the Musk’s words which must have caused great consternation within the Biden administration, other leftists went absolutely bonkers on Twitter.

Xenophobia and resentment poured off of leftist radio host Dean Obeidallah, who raged, “Elon Musk Says he Would Reverse Twitter’s ‘Morally Wrong’ Ban of Donald Trump – in other words South African Musk is okay with terrorist attacks on the US Capitol to overturn American elections. That is why Trump was banned.”

Overstuffed Hollywood hysteric Rob “Meathead” Reiner lashed out at Musk.

“By reinstating Trump, Elon Musk is condoning lies and disinformation. He’s clearly comfortable with someone inciting violence to overthrow our Government. The march towards Autocracy continues,” he wrote.

Perpetually angry 63-year-old New Yorker Keith Olbermann expressed his discontent over Musk’s audacity to restore Trump’s free speech.

In another tweet and as is usually the case with the former ESPN/MSNBC host, he let loose with some of his trademark profanity.

Other reactions from the pro-censorship left’s latest volcanic hissy fit:

Others hailed Musk for standing up to the anti-free speech fascists.

And in a remarkable departure from its recent history, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) issued a statement supportive of Musk’s remarks.

Trump has recently said that has no interest in a return to Twitter, instead concentrating his attention on his new platform, Truth Social.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth” the former president told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth.”
