Chip Roy excoriates Dems for jamming through $40B Ukraine ‘garbage’ bill full of ‘untold slush funding’

Republican firebrand Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) lit up House Democrats on the chamber floor Thursday for ramming through a $40 billion spending bill allegedly for aid to Ukraine but undoubtedly filled with all manner of pork as well.

“Congress is jamming through ANOTHER massive spending bill that its members haven’t had time to read,” Roy tweeted, along with a video clip of his arguments.

He added, “The gall of members of Congress lecturing us when jamming through a $40BB Ukraine funding bill with untold slush funding, with no actual debate, no amendments, no opening of American oil & gas, and 4 hours to read before beginning to vote…”

Roy railed against the notion of “protecting the institution” that Democrats claim to espouse while at the same time, they presented the spending bill at essentially the zero hour and called for a vote before it could be thoroughly examined.

“I haven’t had a chance to review the bill. My staff is poring over the pages trying to see what’s in it,” Roy said from the House floor, adding, ” Why don’t we actually have a debate on the floor of the people’s House, instead of the garbage of getting a $40 billion bill at three-o-clock in the afternoon?”

Many on Twitter agreed with Roy, but tactics in Congress never seem to rise above that of cynicism and lust for power.

Good question, considering the House bill passed with overwhelming support from Republicans, who, incidentally, will spend gobs of taxpayer money sight-unseen just as quickly as any Democrat.

Not one to sit idly by, Roy is well-known for making his voice heard on a range of issues; sometimes loudly on the House floor and at other times in writing.

In April, the congressman formally demanded answers from a San Antonio, Texas, school district that allegedly conducted a racial segregation experiment, and of course, did not notify parents of their intentions.

“As NISD’s Superintendent, you have an obligation to inform parents about what steps you are taking to ensure this will not happen again,” Roy wrote. “It is imperative for you to address these concerns immediately.”

He also reminded the district about Texas law, which “prohibits educators from teaching students that ‘one race or sex is inherently superior to another race or sex,’ or that ‘individuals should be discriminated against or receive adverse treatment solely or partly because of the individual’s race.’”

Roy has also been vocal in his opposition to vaccine mandates and has called for accountability from Dr. Anthony Fauci and the CDC, both of whom he says conveniently disappeared from the public conversation once Russia invaded Ukraine.

“The fact of the matter is, we’re looking at that and we’re talking about war crimes? I wanna talk about the crimes against humanity that have been perpetrated by Anthony Fauci, the CDC, and the federal government against the American people. I wanna talk about the dead Americans – people who had myocarditis, people who had a reaction to the vaccine,” he had said.

“I wanna talk about the Americans who lost their job because of vaccine mandates, whether they are military or health care workers, or maybe a Border Patrol agent federal worker who have been forced to lose their job if they didn’t take a jab,” he railed at the time.
