Loud-mouthed Disney conspicuously quiet on Sunny Hostin’s racist comments disparaging black Republicans

Host and executive producer of ABC’s “The View,” Sunny Hostin, recently found herself in hot water with conservatives after criticizing the existence of black and Latino Republicans, but there’s been radio silence from the show’s parent company.

Hostin ignited fiery backlash after she told guest host Lindsey Granger that black Republicans were an “oxymoron,” echoing Joe Biden’s campaign gaffe of the 2020 election when he said the quiet part out loud. While there has been outrage on the right and a demand for an apology from Hostin for saying something many believe to be blatantly racist, ABC and its parent company, Disney, have yet to comment.

Previously vocal Disney has so far declined to address the incident. Some suggest that they are weary of having to discipline their employees for making racist comments, particularly after Whoopi Goldberg was suspended earlier this year for claiming that the “Holocaust was not about race.” It would not be a good look for Disney or ABC if a second black female host had to be suspended for making controversial comments.

Of course, this comes on the heels of Disney losing a major political battle in the state of Florida after backlash from loyal customers over the far-left woke agenda that has been infused into their product.

Disney was very vocal about its objection to the parental rights bill passed in Florida which many on the left referred to as a “don’t say gay bill” whereas the right characterized it as a “wait till 8 bill,” implying that there is no reason for schools to be providing sexual education to toddlers. So Disney finding itself at the center of political controversy is just another weekly occurrence for the media giant.

There was no discussion about Hostin’s remarks or the criticism on the show Monday and Fox News noted that an ABC spokeswoman for “The View” did not respond “to multiple requests for comment.”

Jorge Bonilla, the Latino director of the Media Research Center Latino told Fox News Digital that: “the silence is to be expected.”

“Identity politics as such is that if you are Black or if you are Hispanic or any other minority, it is expected that in order to play ball within the left’s liberal identity playpen, and then you have to subscribe to all the tenets of the Democratic Party and the far left… [If you don’t,] you are a race traitor, so this is pretty commonplace,” Bonilla added.

Oklahoma Republican Senate candidate T.W. Shannon also weighed in on the issue: “As a Christian Black Conservative, comments—like those made by Sunny Hostin—only serve one purpose: to belittle the millions of Black conservatives throughout the United States for their values and beliefs, particularly as it comes to defending the lives of the unborn,”

The outrage from the right did not start with Sunny Hostin’s comments but from the broader media narrative over the past several years about minorities being under-represented in the Republican Party.

Hostin’s statement that she does not understand a black Republican or a Latino Republican echoes the ideas of identity politics which see race as the context for one’s political identity. Ironically enough, Ana Navarro, who is a Latino Republican, was sitting right next to Hostin during these statements but seemed more interested in pivoting to a new topic than in defending her political identity.

Navarro “deflected onto a seal clap line” about another topic, according to Bonilla.

“If somebody from within an ethnic minority is going to rail at an out group, corporations don’t care enough to get involved, unfortunately,” he told Fox News Digital. “I certainly think there would be a fear of alienating some of your talent on some of these rosters like ‘The View’ and some others.”
