Comedians Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle battled onstage on Thursday as they tried to one-up each other on whose recent onstage attack was worse.
Chappelle was tackled to the ground by a 23-year-old-man wielding a replica gun with a folding knife on the barrel in front of a shocked audience watching the “Netflix is a Joke” comedy festival at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday.
Chris Rock took an epic on-stage slap to the face in March by rapper and actor Will Smith at the Oscars in response to a joke Rock made about Smith’s wife who is balding due to a medical condition, suggesting that Jada Pinkett Smith’s next role would be in a “G.I. Jane” film.
“At least you got smacked by someone of repute!” Chappelle joked at The Comedy Store, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.”
Rock replied, “I got smacked by the softest n—a that ever rapped.”

Fans signed up to see an unnamed comedian for $160 for tickets to the 70-seat venue where Rock joined Chappelle onstage ten minutes into the set.
Chappelle also used the opportunity to shed more light on Tuesday’s incident, noting how “unfortunate” and “unsettling” it was.

He told the crowd that his son ran up and gave him a big hug afterward and said, “Dad, I love you.”
His son isn’t the only one either as he called out all his fans who sent their love and support after the attack.
“A lot of people love me, it turns out,” Chappelle said to the crowd that included Kim Kardashian and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Before Chappelle bowed out for the night, he took a dig at the City of Los Angeles.
“I am in the [place] where you sat in the car with Biggie Smalls as he died,” Chappelle said, “I hate this city.”
Then he took his cigarettes and walked off stage.
Chappelle was unharmed by the attack earlier this week and was joking about it by the end of that night.
“Shout out to Jamie Foxx by the way,” Chappelle acknowledged Foxx who had lept to his rescue as Chappelle was being tackled. “Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat.”
“N——, I thought that was part of the show, I didn’t know what the f–k…” Foxx replied.
