Elon Musk could have plans to take Twitter public in three years according to a report that the billionaire has had conversations with potential investors on his pending acquisition of the influential social media company,
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO who reached an agreement with the board to buy the company for $44 billion last month “said he plans to stage an initial public offering of Twitter in as little as three years of buying it, according to people familiar with the matter,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
Since the deal to purchase Twitter, Musk has been talking with investors to come up with the money – $21 billion – that he needs to close the sale with the remainder coming from bank loans as much of his fortune is tied up in Tesla stock which comprises the bulk of his wealth.
Bloomberg recently reported that “Musk is the world’s richest person, with a fortune of $257 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. However, he has just about $3 billion in cash and somewhat liquid assets, according to Bloomberg estimates.”
Musk hasn’t commented on the WSJ report but has continued his regular postings on Twitter including two on Tuesday that may be an indication that some users could be required to pay for access to the platform.

In another tweet, Musk added, “Twitter will always be free for casual users, but maybe a slight cost for commercial/government users,”

Musk also continued to rattle the cages of the corrupt establishment, responding to a CNN report on a letter circulated by a collection of leftist organizations including Media Matters for America and the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation pressuring corporations to withhold their advertising dollars unless Twitter maintains its censorship of ideas and voices that they do not approve of.
“Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter will further toxify our information ecosystem and be a direct threat to public safety, especially among those already most vulnerable and marginalized,” the letter reads.
“Who funds these organizations that want to control your access to information? Let’s investigate …,” Musk wrote, inviting well-needed scrutiny of such groups.

The self-described “free speech absolutist” has been critical of Twitter’s one-sided “moderation” policies which has caused much consternation with Democrats, their celebrity stooges and the establishment media, all of which benefit immensely from the unfairly tilted playing field that Musk seeks to level.
Musk’s reported future plans for Twitter aren’t uncommon, private equity firms often take companies private for a time to quietly clean up problems and to increase profitability before taking them public again, it could also be a way to reassure potential investors that he will work to make the company more profitable after he takes control.
