Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed he didn’t know the Biden administration’s newly appointed “disinformation” czar had actively pushed faked news regarding the now-infamous Steele Dossier, used to smear former President Donald Trump, and Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell.”
Testifying before the House Judiciary Committee, Mayorkas was asked by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) if he knew who Nina Jankowicz is, the woman Fox News’s Tucker Carlson on Thursday called, “the most ridiculous of all in [President Joe] Biden’s Ministry of Truth.”
“She is the executive director of the Disinformation Governance Board,” Mayorkas correctly stated.
“Is this the same individual who said the Dossier was real and the Hunter Biden laptop story was false?” asked Rep. Jordan. “Is that the individual who’s now running the Disinformation Governance Board?”
“I’m not familiar with those statements,” Mayorkas responded.
“It’s been reported widely,” Jordan pressed.
Mayorkas doubled-down.
“I’m not familiar with those statements,” he repeated.
Just to be clear: This is the head of Homeland Security, claiming he didn’t know an appointed government official charged with stopping the spread of disinformation was, in fact, spreading disinformation about two of the biggest political scandals in modern American history.
“You can’t make it up,” the House Judiciary GOP tweeted.

During eight grueling hours spread across two heated days, Mayorkas has made more than a few stunning admissions to the Committee whose GOP members are less than impressed with the secretary’s handling of the southern border.
Regarding the cost to American taxpayers of NOT building Trump’s wall along the border with Mexico, Mayorkas said, “The wall projects, the majority of them, rest in the jurisdiction of the Army Corps of Engineers. Those that we ourselves control, I believe that the cost of discontinuing them is approximately $72 million.”

To Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX), Mayorkas admitted that the Biden administration is releasing “a significant number” of illegal migrants into the United States.

In speaking with Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), the head of Homeland Security admitted that Biden’s budget actually reduces the amount of available bed space to detain those attempting to illegally cross the border.
“The number of detention beds over the last many years has not met the number of individuals who are in asylum proceedings in detention,” Mayorkas said.

And to Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.), Mayorkas confessed that “the morale in the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in the Border Patrol, is low. There is no question.”

He even claimed DHS had the border situation under control.
But of all the admissions and claims, perhaps the most remarkable were the ones in which Mayorkas and his Democratic allies attempted to blame President Trump for his department’s failures.
“One of the greatest obstacles we have, Mr. Chairman, is to overcome the distrust that was sown by the prior administration,” Mayorkas told Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) “Through its global policies, many still feel fearful, given what trauma they experienced and continue to experience.”
According to Mayorkas, “the prior administration decimated the legal immigration system, leaving U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency that administers our nation’s legal immigration system, on the brink of bankruptcy.”
In the end, it was Rep. Chip Roy (R-Md.) who decimated Mayorkas’ claims.
Holding photos of trafficked children and those who have overdosed from the fentanyl that is pouring across our southern border, Roy blasted Mayorkas, stating, “You know full well [DHS policies] are encouraging cartels, encouraging people to come here, harming Texas, and harming this country. You know it, and you’re ignoring the actual truth.”
