U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene turned the tables on Jim Acosta, calling out the notorious CNN pest who tried in vain to lure her into commenting on text messages that were sent in the aftermath of the so-called “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol.
With media chatter heating up before Nancy Pelosi’s sham January 6 committee holds public hearings in June, something that Democrats will make every attempt to turn into a national media spectacle, Acosta sought to get the Georgia congresswoman’s remarks on video which would almost certainly be twisted in order to portray her in a less than flattering light.
But Greene flipped the script on the overmatched Acosta, spoiling his “gotcha” ambush during which he repeatedly fumbled with his smartphone when asked to produce the exact text that he was harassing her about.
The messages were part of a haul of over 2,000 texts from former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows that were provided to the committee but then given to CNN which has featured the content in an effort to boost the cable network’s dismal ratings which have never recovered since former President Donald J. Trump left office.
Greene posted the video of her encounter with Acosta whom she called a liar to her Twitter account after his failed attempt to get her on record in a way that he could spin to his viewers to portray her as calling for Trump to declare martial law – she didn’t.
“I am repulsed that people gladly take a paycheck to lie and mischaracterize me like this guy, Jim Acosta,” MTG wrote. “I want to think good things about the press, but they behave like this and it makes me sick to my stomach.”

“You know Jim, you have a show and in all fairness you try to present this image of me to your viewers and it’s just really not correct,” she said.
Acosta responded, “Well we’re just trying to get some answers, did you send a text asking for the president to declare martial law?”
Greene replied, “You know, I don’t recall those being my text messages but have you read the text message that you’re referring to?” Acosta said that he did, saying that it was misspelled, a statement that only served to reveal his dishonest intentions.
“Actually it says, if you read it correctly Jim, your problem is you’re lying again right now,” Greene said. “It says I do not know on those things, actually says, now why don’t you be honest?”
Acosta kept harping on martial law which the text clearly shows that she did not call for as he claimed.
“You’re just another one of those liars on television,” she said. “And people hate it, they can’t stand the liars on television.”
She then asked Acosta to “quote the supposed text message,” a challenge that he appeared to be completely unprepared for, pulling out his phone while still trying to get her on record as his planned ambush went sideways and he found himself on the defensive.
Eventually, he did produce and read the text which clearly showed that Greene didn’t call for martial law.
“It says I don’t know on those things,” she said as she began walking away, “why don’t you tell that story?”
“You’re lying, you’re a liar,” she said. “You know why people do not like you? Because you’re a liar. Why do you want to lie on television for your viewers?”
Greene added, “You’re accusing me of something and then when you read the actual words, it tells another story, it tells the truth.”
“When you want to be honest, when you actually want to talk about me as a real person and present me fairly, then I’ll talk to you but until then I don’t want to have anything to do with you,” she said as she then put distance between her and the “liar” Acosta whom she accused of harassing her.
There is a good reason why millions of Americans despise and distrust the media and few make a better case for that perception than Jim Acosta.
