Florida Governor Ron DeSantis capped off a whirlwind week on Friday when he finished the state legislature’s job by signing a bill ending the privilege of “woke” entertainment colossus Disney which was badly burned after an ill-fated attack on democracy, costing the company the special status that allows it to function as a separate government.

Democrats and their media mouthpieces wailed in impotent agony over the methodical manner in which Disney – which they had goaded into wading into the battle over Florida’s parental rights law – was smacked down by a governor who backed up his tough talk with strong action against a previously unaccountable corporation which will now be treated like ever other business that operates in the state.

Governor DeSantis basked in the glow of victory when he appeared on Fox News where he discussed the Disney matter as well as the glaring hypocrisy of leftists who talk out of both sides of their mouths when it comes to corporations, relying on the entities to act as enforcers of their ideological revolution despite progressives angrily demanding that they pay their fair share.

After playing clips of leftist media whining about the unfairness of DeSantis toward the House of Mouse, Carlson welcomed the man who has been the gold standard for American governors, first with his handling of COVID and now with his strong stand against groomers in classrooms and their enablers.

Carlson jokingly asked the governor about the unhinged slurs of racist, communist, and fascist tossed out by MSNBC propagandists for wanting Disney to pay its taxes, inviting him to describe himself.

“Well, it’s interesting Tucker, not only pay taxes, I mean this company had a deal unlike any company or any individual in all of the state of Florida and probably anywhere in the United States,” replied DeSantis.

“They were self-governing, they had extraordinary powers, they could build nuclear power plants, they didn’t have to go through permitting processes, obviously a lot of tax benefits,” he continued,  “and so that’s just inappropriate and it’s certainly inappropriate when you look, as you I think did a great job pointing out, they pledge themselves to mobilize their considerable corporate resources out of the coffers of this Burbank, California-based corporation to overturn the rights of parents in the state of Florida, to effectively commandeer our democratic process.”

DeSantis was of course referring to Disney’s vow to have the law repealed through either pressure on the legislature or by using the courts, a perfect example of how hollow that the left’s constant insistence that they are the defenders of “democracy” is when compared with their true intentions.

“And so that obviously is something that we very much objected to and then you also have those videos that you showed where you have all these higher-ups in Disney talking about how it was their intent to inject sexuality in the programing that goes to young kids,” added DeSantis.

“I got a five-year-old, a four-year-old, and a two year old at home, Tucker . I want them to be able to watch cartoons without having this stuff jammed down their throats, and so it was appropriate to have done this originally three years ago or whatever, but it’s certainly appropriate to make them live under the same laws as everybody else in the state of Florida,” he added.

Carlson wondered who the so-called defenders of “democracy” could be on the side of unelected corporations ruling by fiat.

DeSantis nailed it, “Because I think what the left has come to is all they want to see is power exercised in advance of their leftist agenda”

“So yes, they used to be hostile to big corporations because I think they perceive those corporations as being apolitical and that they wouldn’t support their agenda,” he said. “Now they figured out that they can try to subcontract out their leftism to some of these big corporations and some of the executives will cave to the woke mob and then they’ll basically do the less dirty work.”

“Tucker, they’re not gonna win elections in Florida if they’re actually running on injecting transgender ideology into second-grade classrooms. They know,” he added. “So their hope was getting Disney involved in that would somehow get me to back down from signing the bill. Well, that was a bad judgment on their part because of course we weren’t going to back down an inch.”

Prior to his talk with Governor DeSantis, Carlson broke it all down in an epic monologue.

Disney’s special privilege was approved by Florida Governor Claude Kirk Jr. in 1967, granting the California-based corporation its unique district along with self-governance which has now been sacrificed on the altar of the “woke” left’s culture war.
