Fmr. ‘Lie of the Year’ award winner Barack Obama announces crusade to stop ‘spread of disinformation’

Barack Obama has joined the leftist establishment’s efforts to maintain control over their approved narrative, announcing that the Obama Foundation will be devoting its resources to training the next generation of information monitors under the oft-invoked pretense of combating “disinformation.” a term which like “democracy” has been twisted into a pretzel in true Orwellian fashion by the political left.

Fresh off of his speech at the big “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy” conference sponsored by The Atlantic, Obama took to Twitter to announce his involvement in the new initiative, invoking the key buzz words in a pair of tweets that were met with incredulity by many who can recall the former president’s tendency to play fast and loose with the truth during his eight years in the White House.

According to the nation’s 44th president, “In recent years, we’ve seen how quickly disinformation spreads, especially on social media. This has created real challenges for our democracy.”

Obama added, “Part of the reason it’s hard to bring about change is because we live in a media environment that elevates falsehoods as much as truths, and divides people as much as it brings them together.”

The organization that bears his name also tweeted out an infomercial featuring Obama himself sitting with those who are being trained in the art of policing “disinformation” along with all the standard malarkey and spin that portrays any dissenting opinion from leftist orthodoxy and official policy as endangering “democracy,” a talking point that is repeatedly hammered by Democrats and their media mouthpieces.

What makes his rollout of what is obviously a program to further the left’s drive for censorship all the more laughable is that Obama was the recipient of fact-checker PolitFact’s 2013 “Lie of the Year,” award, scoring the dubious honor for his falsehood about the Affordable Care Act that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” a deception that at the time was believed by millions, many of who soon found out that they’d been conned.

Obama was also given a “Pants on Fire” by PolitiFact earlier in the same year for his attempt to wriggle off the hook for his whopper during a speech to party loyalists.

The Obama Foundation’s training for future information warriors and its famous namesake drew ridicule and scorn on Twitter.

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted out a screenshot of a Politico story touting all of those former intelligence officials – many of them Democrats – who issued a statement falsely claiming that Hunter Biden’s smoking laptop was Russian disinformation, a blatant fib that may have helped to swing the election to his father who was the beneficiary of the “big lie” told by the spooks in the waning weeks before voters went to the polls.

Benjamin Weingarten, editor of Real Clear Investigations asked Obama, “Speaking of, what did you know about Russiagate, when did you know it, and what did you do about it?”

“I’m sure there’s no way this will ever be abused and turn into a professional leftist activist organization meant to deplatform conservatives and libertarians,” wrote conservative radio host Austin Petersen.

Others weighed in with their takes.

Obama’s announcement, which singles out social media as an environment where “disinformation spreads,” comes as the leftist establishment is in a state of panic after billionaire Elon Musk announced his takeover bid for Twitter, terrifying Democrats and their allies that new leadership could end their rigged game and the stranglehold that they currently enjoy on the platform.
