With the walls slowly closing in on Hunter Biden who can no longer escape the long-overdue scrutiny of his shady foreign business dealings, newly released emails show that one of his business partners, the nephew of infamous Boston mobster Whitey Bulger played a role in his Chinese business ventures.
James “Whitey” Bulger’s murderous criminal career spanned several decades when as the head of the Winter Hill gang he controlled South Boston’s underworld, racking up an extensive rap sheet including extortion, narcotics trafficking, money laundering and at least 19 murders, landing at the top of America’s most-wanted list after he fled the city in 1994 and went into hiding. He was captured in 2011 and sent to prison where he would spend the rest of his days.
James Bulger, his infamous uncle’s namesake served as chairman of the Thornton Group, a Boston-based financial advisory firm that teamed with Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca, in a joint venture with Bohai Capital, a Chinese investment firm to create BHR Partners which describes itself as a “cross-border investment arm of Bohai Industrial Investment Fund,” according to its website. BHR Partners is controlled by Bank of China Limited.
In emails that were reviewed by multiple media outlets including Fox News and the New York Post, one in particular stands out, a January 2014 message forwarded by Bulger to Biden and his Rosemont Seneca co-founder Devon Archer who was recently sentenced to one year in prison for his role in a scheme involving the defrauding of a Native American tribe.
In the email which had the subject line “Meeting with Chinese Ambassador,” Bulger suggested that the group get together in Washington D.C. with “the Ambassador,” writing the hopes that “this has not caused to [sic] much of an *** ache,” according to the message.

Joe Biden was the sitting Vice President of the United States of America at the time.
“It’s unclear, however, if the meeting ever took place. A message seeking comment from BHR Partners in Beijing was not immediately returned early Thursday,” the New York Post reported.
In another email from May 23, 2014, to Biden and Archer, Bulger wrote, “Gentlemen, during the weekly BHR call last night Lindsay informed the whole China team excluding Jonathan about the message you both conveyed during the morning call with Lindsay.”
“She was very clear to all on the phone that the signing of an investment contract with Gouxin or BOC or PICC is task number 1,” he wrote.

“BOC is likely referring to Bank of China. PICC is likely referring to the People’s Insurance Company of China,” according to Fox News. “Bulger continues to say that he was asked to discuss ‘the need for a contracted Chinese anchor investor,'” the outlet reported.
The Jonathan referred to in the email could be BHR CEO Jonathan Li who in 2018 asked Biden, Bulger, and Archer for help in getting his son into an elite American educational institution and, according to another email, it is strongly suggested that “the Big Guy” penned the letter of recommendation for Chris Li to Brown University, an Ivy League college.

Whitey Bulger, whose illegal exploits inspired several movies and television plots and characters, including his being chillingly portrayed by actor Johnny Depp in the film “Black Mass,” was murdered by another inmate at a West Virginia federal penitentiary in 2018, a brutal end to a violent life.
While it’s important to acknowledge that James Bulger is in no way responsible for the many sins of his uncle nor is any similar criminal intent implied, it sure is an interesting twist to the ongoing Hunter Biden saga, a true-crime tale in its own right.
