LA gangs reportedly capitalize on lax laws, send crews to stalk and prey upon city’s elite

Virtue-signaling limousine liberals in California are presumably learning that they can no longer insulate themselves from the policies that they helped usher in or advocate for everyone else.

Democrats in progressive Los Angeles who voted in, for example, a soft-on-crime Soros-backed district attorney who appears reluctant to prosecute chronic wrongdoers that typically prey on low-income residents, are reportedly finding out that crime has made its way into their own elitist, upscale backyards, which are usually more secure.

Offenses in the crime-ridden Democrat-controlled county reportedly include sinister follow-home robberies allegedly committed by convoys of crews from multiple southern California street gangs.

“More than a dozen Los Angeles gangs are targeting some of the city’s wealthiest residents in a new and aggressive manner, sending out crews in multiple cars to find, follow and rob people driving high-end vehicles or wearing expensive jewelry, according to police,” SF Gate reported.

Nearly 60 of these kinds of thefts (23 of which have involved gunfire,) already occurred so far this year; in 2021, the total of such robberies was 165. Two victims of these robberies have reportedly been killed this year.

“In many cases, they’re making off with designer handbags, diamond-studded watches and other items worth tens of thousands of dollars — if not more — and then peddling them to black-market buyers who are willing to turn a blind eye to the underlying violence, police said. In some cases, suspects have been arrested but then released from custody — only to commit additional robberies, police said,” the news outlet added.

According to the LAPD, these gang-bangers rob their victims “soon after leaving luxury boutiques and hotels, ritzy restaurants, trendy nightclubs and other locations where the gangs are scouting for targets.”

LAPD Capt. Jonathan Tippet, who is leading a task force to respond to these crimes, admitted that “In my 34 years on the job, I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Part of the problem appears to be L.A. County’s COVID-related catch-and-release policy “that requires L.A. County defendants to be released without posting bail for certain offenses.”

According to Tippet, some suspects upon being released from custody commit more crimes while they are awaiting their day in court.

In December 2021, philanthropist Jacqueline Avant, the wife of music executive Clarence Avant, was tragically shot and killed in a reported home invasion at the couple’s Beverly Hill’s residence.

Beverly Hills is the Hollywood-area enclave where many liberal celebrities who lead lifestyles of the rich and famous reside.

Many of these areas are affluent enough to afford private security, although that is turning out to not be a panacea.

“Critics already blame (L.A. DA George) Gascon for releasing many violent offenders with few restrictions. Last year, he eliminated cash bail for many offenses,” the New York Post reported about a week later. Even hardcore leftist Democrats are arming themselves, or trying to, in an area with strict gun control regulations, the Post implied. Neighborhood watches are also being established.

Violent crime in Beverly Hills alone has reportedly surged by 23% in the last two years.

A nascent 2021 voter recall of Gascon came up short because of lack of petition signatures. A second recall drive, which appears to have far more momentum, is currently underway and appears likely to make the November 2022 ballot.

Thousands of California residents, especially in Los Angeles, have fled the once Golden (and also simultaneously blue) State governed by far-left Democrat Gavin Newsom in recent years because of crime and other forms of the decay in the quality of life, as well as COVID restrictions and high taxes.
