Former President Donald Trump is being dogpiled by supporters and facing heavy backlash over claims he was played by the establishment GOP following his endorsement of Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania for the U.S. Senate ahead of the Republican primary.
“This is all about winning elections in order to stop the Radical Left maniacs from destroying our Country,” Trump asserted in a statement. “I have known Dr. Oz for many years, as have many others, even if only through his very successful television show. He has lived with us through the screen and has always been popular, respected, and smart.”
“He even said that I was in extraordinary health, which made me like him even more (although he also said I should lose a couple of pounds!)” Trump joked.
“Dr. Oz is smart, tough, and will never let you down, therefore, he has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” the former president said in his statement.
Trump “knows how critical it is to change the kinds of people we send to Washington. I’m ready to fight,” Oz said in a statement. “I thank him for that, and I am proud to receive his endorsement.”

This is happening because Trump’s surrounded himself by staff who are on McConnell’s payroll & hostile to the MAGA agenda. Everybody telling Trump who to endorse in primaries works for The Swamp.
They played him. Again. https://t.co/SoD656HT0V

A number of Republican candidates were vying for Trump’s endorsement in Pennsylvania which is seen as a key battleground state and could determine control of the Senate. The former president is perceived as a kingmaker in the lead-up to the midterm elections this year and his approval carries a lot of weight in the party. Many find the endorsement of Oz to be untenable.
Army veteran Sean Parnell, who has been endorsed by Trump twice, condemned the endorsement on Twitter, saying, “I have enormous respect for President Trump. I was honored to have his endorsement in PA. Twice. But I’m disappointed by this. Oz is the antithesis of everything that made Trump the best president of my lifetime—he’s the farthest thing from America First & he’d be very bad for PA.”

Dave McCormick, who is a former George W. Bush administration official and is married to Dina Powell, a former deputy national security adviser to Trump, was also in the running for his endorsement but did not get it even though he leads Oz, according to recent polls. According to Axios, McCormick met twice with Trump at Mar-a-Lago seeking his endorsement.
Other big-name conservatives expressed dismay at Oz getting the endorsement.
Author Allie Beth Stuckey was blunt in her astonishment, “Wait. Is there anything conservative about Dr. Oz?”

Former NYPD police officer John Cardillo tore into the announcement, “Trump’s endorsement of Dr. Oz is inexcusable. He just put his political capital behind an anti-gun pro-abortion open borders Hollywood liberal. Oz will be another Mitt Romney in the Senate.”

Look at the chatter.
Pennsylvania Republicans do not want Dr. Oz.

Similarly, Ryan Fournier, who is the founder of Students for Trump, expressed support for the former president, but not for Oz: “Dr. Oz will never have my support. Ever. I support Trump wholeheartedly – but I disagree with this endorsement and that’s okay. I know MANY others feel the same way.”

Republicans made their case why Oz is not a conservative with receipts to back it up:

NEW PROOF RINO Mehmet Oz is pro-abortion.
“I’m not socially conservative,” Oz said. “We should not be creating obstacles during the difficult time that women have when trying to terminate a pregnancy.”

Trump needs to quit taking political advice from Hannity.
Oz says what the gubment tells him to say. He is simply a gubment mouthpiece. Science is NOT part of his “curriculum”.
I am confused by this I have seen Oz on Newsmax a number of times, in fact Greg Kelly thinks he is great. He did say he was not fond of him until he really got to know him. I was too, I mean he was given his show throw Oprah and she’s a liberal for sure. But after listening to him and what he actually believes in and how much he likes Trump I thought maybe he isn’t bad at all. Don’t get it.
Off topic why does the video that is always running on BPR take up my whole screen every time I type and F? I am typing along and get to a word with f and the video goes all wide screen on me. It only happens with another letter before it or with it. How can I make it stop?
Same thing been happening here and you’re right, it’s tied to the f key. I thought it was my old computer acting up. That’s gotta be at bpr’s end.
Happened to me yesterday. I will have to pay attention to the “f key” thing. Having just said that, as I was typing this latter statement, the whole screen thing happened again. Cleared after I hit the “Esc” key. I have a desktop iMac.
I’m using a MacBookPro and now I’m curious if you’re using Mac or PC?
If Oz wins the primary the Dems will win the seat. It really is that simple. Many conservatives will leave that spot on the ballot blank or write in someone else.
Anti-gun, anti-2A, pro-choice, BLM sympathizer, pro-vaccine….just to name a few of his long held public positions.
I trust President Trump. Many different calculations go into a decision to endorse. Winning being the most important. If he believes in a man he has known for years I accept that
One look at his troupe of “advisers” in the WH tells us much about his ability to choose like minded allies.
He is dead wrong on Oz.
President Trump works with RINO’s all the time. Half the Republican Party is RINO’s. He will get rid of Oz when the need arises.
Oz does not have a grasp on the issues before us! He still thinks that DEMS are a ok and that they are just “misunderstood”, he does not understand that we are fighting the devil himself! The DEM party has demonstrated just how pro death they are when NONE OF THEM WOULD SIGN ON A BILL REQUIRING ABORTIONIST GIVE AID TO A BABY BORN LIVE AFTER A BOTCHED ABORTION! He never winked at the fact that DEMS have no problem killing a baby EVEN AFTER IT IS BORN! My God, what happened to do no harm?
My greatest grievance against Oz is he is Oprah Winfrey disciple!
Oz is NOT a conservative by any standard, he is yet another mole put into the Republican party just like Mitt Romney! PUKE
He does not think they are ok I have listened to him say that several times on Newsmax. Pretty much everything he says I have agreed with.
My greatest grievance against Oz is also that he is a “Oprah Winfrey disciple.” Has Oprah ever spoken out against the BLM movement? I think Oprah is very woke and concerning her close connection with Oz, “birds of a feather stick together.” I live in Pennsylvania and am a Republican. Oz does not belong in the Pennsylvania Senate. I will NOT be voting for him.
It’s a situation of the lessor of two evils. President Trump has his reasons and I trust him totally.
I disagree, he made mistakes with several nominations, people who later stabbed him and us in the back! Trump said “we cannot get it all right”! Too many RINO in his ear!
Pence is the perfect example of that, he is a backstabbing never Trump RINO! I dare say that he was the source for all the leaks during Trump’s tenure!
Pence is a good example. Pence caved when the country needed him most. But He needed pence to get to the White House. Many people thought President Trump would cave on numerous other issues but he doesn’t. He will use Oz and get rid of him when he has to.
Not at all. Both McCormick and Sands have the chops as true conservatives.
IF… that’s IF you believe in President Trump, then you have to trust him. He never gives up and in the end he never looses.
Do you know all the crap they say McCormick did? It sounds really bad so I couldn’t support him.
‘…McCormick met twice with Trump at Mar-a-Lago seeking his endorsement…’
We do not have all the facts.
Personally, OZ seems to be out of place in the Republican Party.
He might be smart but he’s another RINO
Oz is not smart. He’s just a useful RINO right now.
I couldn’t finish reading this. I hate articles that try to make someone’s
Opinions, a Facts…
Then everyone jumps on Board of negativity.
Boo
America First is not about overturning Roe Vs Wade, it is about supporting Americans. This appears to be what Doctor Oz is trying to do. We have enough political leadership that think it is about winning something, parroting the right side of divisive issues.
Just because Dr Oz shows up on Hannity once a week does not make him the preeminent Republican candidate. Oz is another Lindsey Graham — and look how well that’s worked for Republicans. Graham is one of the biggest RINOs in the Senate. I trust that President Trump will change his mind and pull the endorsement.
Perhaps he will have a change of mind. Trump may be facing the same problem we constantly face as voter’s backing the lessor evil. He may not have endorsed anyone if we didn’t need Penn. so bad. McCormick, the front runner is a Busher and Bushers have constantly stabbed Trump in the back. They are all lib new world order Repubs. [dems. in Repub. cloths.]
You’d think Trump would not “shoot from the hip” at such a crucial juncture in our nation’s history to get fresh, principled Patriots in positions of power. Since the clips in this piece were available before Trump made his decision, why didn’t such ‘public knowledge’ enter into his process.
Very disconcerting. Trump should have learned this by now. It’s not an error DeSantis makes.
Maybe it comes down to people change. Perhaps Oz beliefs have changed. I have seen him on Greg Kelly a lot and it has changed my view of him. But admittedly I didn’t know about what he said about abortions. I do know what I have heard about McCormick makes him seem like the worst candidate.
Maybe President Trump will excite some completion among the non-endorsed candidates? A Trump endorsement means the candidate wins.
You must trust Capitalism.
How do I get my picture on the post?
Bill Barr, Mike Pence, the little runt forgettable attorney general that all were a few of huge disappointments. They had their chance and did not nor could not fulfill their job adequately.
maybe Trump’s backing of Dr Oz is a political strategy to get Conservatives off their butts and out to the voting booths.
Disappointing to say the least.
Dr Oz is clearly not a conservative.
Trump’s most obvious failure as president was his talent for filling his inner circle with people who were antithetical to his ideas and the whole MAGA model. If he runs again, I hope somebody has a serious talk with him about this and convinces him to create a much more effective vetting process.
Well said, Sixxfingers. He was a rookie to the underhanded Swamp dealings during the first months of his presidency, but this time I hope President-elect Trump will trust his own hunches in figuring out those that whisper blarney in his ears. Dust off your (Expletive Deleted) Meter, President Trump and let Mitch McConnell, John Bolton and General Milley be your rules-of-thumb benchmarks.
Amen to you both! I’m not sure what on earth possessed him to back Oz. There’s been so many questionable professional and personal actions that trigger people like crazy! Remember when he guest hosted Jeopardy? What a mess that was. People really don’t like him.
I wish it were possible to ask Trump that question because just looking at it at face value, it’s not gonna work out for either of them. I live very close to PA and one of my kids lives there. We’d vote for Sean Parnell, who Trump endorsed twice way before Oz. Just baffling.
You are looking at this as negatively as possible. Failures first?
