Democrats and their allies are giddily preparing for the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the nation’s highest court as the official Senate vote approaches for President Joe Biden’s first SCOTUS pick.
In the zeal to portray the D.C. Appeals Court judge’s donning of the high court robe as a momentous event of great historical significance, the editors at Politico once again have egg dripping from their faces after tweeting out the blatantly false claim that KBJ would become the nation’s first black Supreme Court justice, a disrespectful snub of Thurgood Marshall who is the rightful owner of that distinction as well as Clarence Thomas, currently the court’s longest-tenured member.
The editors at Politico somehow allowed the tweet stating that “Ketanji Brown Jackson will likely be confirmed as the first Black female Supreme Court justice by the end of this week,” to be posted with a link to their story breaking down the confirmation process for “non-Senate wonky nerds,” that will play out in the coming days.

In addition to the bungled tweet, the false claim was also included in the article which has since been corrected.

After the bogus claim which would easily merit the dreaded Four Pinocchio’s drew all the wrong sort of attention, Politico posted a subsequent tweet acknowledging the embarrassing error.
“For the record: This replaces an earlier tweet that stated Ketanji Brown Jackson could be the first Black Supreme Court justice, it should have said the first Black female Supreme Court justice. We apologize for the error,” the outlet wrote.

As could be expected, Twitter weighed in, slamming Politico for its dishonesty and sloppiness.

As many have already predicted, Jackson’s confirmation is a slam dunk, a detail confirmed after Mitt Romney who also joined Democrats on both failed impeachments of former President Donald J. Trump came out in support of her on Monday.

Susan Collins of Maine has already all but formally confirmed that she’s a yes vote.
The FIRST black Supreme Court Justice was nominated by Democrat President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1967. Thurgood Marshall would serve until 1991 when he was replaced by President George H.W. Bush’s nominee Clarence Thomas, neither of whom ever defended the idea of leniency for perverts trafficking child pornography on the internet.
