Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue has joined those, including President Joe Biden, in warning of potential food shortages.

Unlike Biden, who has similarly blamed soaring gas prices on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine rather than his administration’s inflationary spending spree and other failings, Unanue asserted that supply chain disruptions began with the COVID-19 lockdowns.

“This war is having a devastating effect on supply,” he said as he also acknowledged the conflict in eastern Europe.

On Sunday, Unanue told “Fox & Friends” co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy in the interview embedded above that there is a two-front war underway, the first constituting the Biden team’s ideological hostility to the domestic energy independence that was in effect under President Donald Trump.

According to the Biden inner circle as well as Democrats generally, America’s economic woes are the result of the so-called Putin price hike rather than Bidenflation.

“The president should know, and so should AOC, that there are two wars raging. The first war is a war on fossil fuels, and that has sent inflation skyrocketing. We’re pacing seven, eight, nine, now 13% per month in our food. And so, the cost of transportation has affected every facet of the economy,” the executive explained.

“And then the other war is the war in Ukraine where they make fertilizer; they make corn, wheat — 26 percent of the wheat production in the world. And they also…have sand for glass — and also for fracking, so minerals, and all that stuff. So that’s all being blocked in the ports of Odesa,” he continued.

“The real problem with the supply chain started with the lockdown when we locked down our schools, our businesses, our churches. You know, you need a reason to get up every day: God, family, work, school. And every part of that was shut down…we kept working, Goya kept working. We never stopped, and we were able to supply food; we were able to give to food banks, and the like, so we’ve had a mission of Goya Gives,” he noted. “We were there on the ground.”

Unanue went on to claim that beans are a good protein alternative if the price of meat becomes too expensive for the consumer. “And when you combine [beans] with rice, you get a complete protein,” he asserted. “So it’s a pretty economical and full meal.”

He agreed with Campos-Duffy that there is a “spiritual component” when moms and dads can’t afford to feed their families. “It’s demoralizing; it has…such an impact on your soul,” she said.

“We have the mission of food, which feeds the body, and that’s temporary, but feeding the soul is permanent. And that’s what we need to do,” the Goya CEO declared.

During the 2020 election cycle, leftists tried to boycott Goya after Unanue praised then-President Trump.

“Russia and Ukraine account for around 29% of global wheat exports, 19% of global corn supplies, and 80% of the world’s sunflower oil exports. This reliance has many traders worried that any further military force could trigger a massive scramble by food importers to replace supplies normally sourced from the Black Sea region. Russia is also one of the world’s biggest exporters of all three major groups of fertilizer,” Fox News reported.

“For the 12 months ending in February, grocery prices leaped 8.6%, the biggest year-over-year increase since 1981, the government said. Gas prices are up a whopping 38%…Inflation data for March will be released next week,” Fox News added.
