U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.) put his full support behind rumblings that the Florida legislature is angling to repeal special privileges Disney has enjoyed since the late 1960s in light of Mickey Mouse’s parent company vowing to work to repeal the Parental Rights in Education Act, which has been largely mischaracterized as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” by corporate media.
“Things that scare Disney: Municipal dissolution, Copyright expiration, Combined reporting,” Gaetz wrote on Twitter. “I’m the former Finance & Tax Chairman of the Florida House and I know of what I speak. DMs open for FL legislators.”
“I’ll tell you how to trap this rodent,” he added.

His post included a link to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R) recent comments condemning the woke ideology being pushed at Disney and explaining why the legislature is considering repealing the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which essentially allows Disney to operate its own city and put its own regulations on virtually everything including building codes, fire department services, electricity, roads, and water.
“They have gotten incredible treatment from the Florida legislature and are treated on a pedestal, this one corporation is treated differently than anybody else,” DeSantis noted. “That is not something I’ve ever supported. In the legislature, you see a move to reevaluate the special privileges.”

Florida state Rep. Spencer Roach (R) also spoke out on social media in support of repealing the preferential act and indicated that he and his peers had already met twice to discuss it.
“Yesterday was the 2nd meeting in a week w/ fellow legislators to discuss a repeal of the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act, which allows Disney to act as its own government. If Disney wants to embrace woke ideology, it seems fitting that they should be regulated by Orange County.”

Responses on social media were divided, and not everyone was on board with DeSantis and Gaetz seeking equal protection under the law for Disney. Here is a sampling of the reactions:
In other words, do you want to use the power of the government to hurt someone because of their political speech. I think there may be a law against that.

It’s so odd that Disney chooses this hill to die in, ostracizing a significant portion of their customer base -including the right, many independents, and some normal democrats. Let kids be kids, why the intentional backwards conversion therapy. Earn a bonus for each one or what?

I pray the up and move. Good for them protecting what they believe. It’s ok to be different

I wish Disney would shut its doors, pack up and leave! There are certainly other southern states that would welcome them! Take their revenue and walk away!

You do realize that a lot of money in Florida comes from Disney right? I mean the main reason you don’t need a state tax is because tons of people visit Disney. You may not want to disturb the giant.

Send Disney and their freaks to their own island
Disney is nothing more than a pedophile shopping mall. I sincerely hope Florida strips the privileges from this pervert palace.
If Disney were to move. It would take decades and billions of dollars to get back the same self governing privileges they have in Florida right now. Right now the shareholders are fed-up with Disney’s B.S. They are loosing money and with this gay and transgender movie move. That has investors already look to other animated studios and filmmakers. Disney CEOs and top Executives heads will start rolling. Just saying
This is why our Country is the way it is its always about the money. Share the wealth Entrepreneurs come alive. It would cost Disney more to move than to get some common sense back, teach them DeSantis. These freaks running the magic kingdom need to leave or be booted.
Time to BRING DISNEY DOWN !! They just THINK they’re too big to fail !! The FREE STATE OF FLORIDA will show you FREAK CEO’s that YOU WILL NOT INDOCTRINATE the children of OUR State or ANY child passing through your gates !!! BOYCOTT DISNEY !
The way to trap the Disney rodent is to keep our wallets closed.
No cheese for Mickey.
Disney is penetrated by Clandestine Communist Homosexual Operations to promote psychological warfare against american families.
Dems always expect special treatment and refuse to live under the rules other have to. They are the consummate hypocrites. Disney is a cesspool of immoral democrats and should be taken down.
F disney
I find it ironic that the “woke” who routinely condemn big corporations, capitalism and free speech are now invoking those terms to support Disney’s foray into the political field of the LGBTQXYZ movement.
“a repeal of the 1967 Reedy Creek Improvement Act”
Do It! Florida congressmen, act NOW! Stop talking yourselves out of it. Show some fortitude.
HOW would it be “hurting disney” to be TREATED LIKE EVERYONE ELSE??? Is the STATE of Florida “hurting” everyone else??? When libers don’t get SPECIAL treatment that is seen BY THEM as being “hurtful”!! disney has let the inmates take over the asylum!!
Even without Disney , Fla. has never had a state tax. I doubt that they pay Fla. that much anyways, especially with all their high priced attorneys and accountants looking for every loophole they can find. Just close the loopholes and they will pack up and leave. I dont even like talking to mousey people let alone visit their home.
WE here in Florida DON’T need Disney !! They NEED us !! BOYCOTT DISNEY !!
Those of you who are against taking away their special status suggest to me that you are ok with indoctrinating small children into some ideology that ruins their childhood. Is money so important to you people that you would ruin your own children’s childhood? If that is the case you don’t deserve children. Disney has become a has-been and should be treated as such. They have seriously lost their ways.
To answer your question, Yes , money is more important to them.
For MOST, it’s not THEIR children, it’s YOUR CHILDREN!! Look at who supports this crap – do those freaks look like they’ve ever bred???
NO……….BUT…….They adopt and then ABUSE the adopted children with their LUNACY !
Yes, that is happening. They are recruiting new blood for their sick lifestyle. Like a membership drive.
Once the little ones are indoctrinated they don’t know any better.
😡😡😡😡😡
Thank the good Lord they haven’t bred!
