Incendiary allegations from Rep. Madison Cawthorn have ignited a firestorm and could have the young North Carolina Republican wishing that he had kept his mouth shut over claims of sex and drugs in Washington D.C.

The 26-year-old congressional newcomer made remarks on a podcast last week claiming that the fictional Netflix series “House Of Cards,” which presented a depraved vision of elected officials and life inside of the Beltway, may have been a bit closer to reality than most Americans would believe.

During his chat with host John Lovell on the “Warrior Poet Society” podcast, the topic of the show which starred Kevin Spacey as Francis J. “Frank” Underwood, an ethically-challenged South Carolina congressman who along with his scheming spouse Claire Underwood – played by actress Robin Wright – exercise ruthlessly Machiavellian tactics over the course of five seasons to slice throats all the way to the White House.

“How much, in your opinion, because you’ve been behind the veil, “asked the host, “is this a fictitious show, or is this closer to like a documentary, is it that bad?”

Cawthorn answered, “So, I heard a former president that we had in the 90s was asked a question about this, and he gave an answer that I thought was so true and he said, the only thing that’s not accurate in that show is that you could never get a piece of legislation about education passed that quickly,” almost certainly a reference to a magazine interview with Spacey where the star said that Bill Clinton told him exactly that.

“Aside from that, I mean the sexual perversion that goes on in Washington, I mean it being kind of a young guy in Washington with the average age of probably 60 or 70, and I look at all these people, a lot of them that I’ve looked up to through my life, I’ve always paid attention to politics,” Cawthorn said.

“Then all of the sudden you get invited to, ‘Well hey, we’re going to have kind of a sexual get-together at one of our homes, you should come.’ I’m like, ‘What did you just ask me to come to?’ And then you realize they are asking you to come to an orgy,” he said.

“Or the fact that, you know, there are some of the people that are leading on the movement to try and remove, you know, addiction in our country and then you watch them do a key bump of cocaine right in front of you, and it’s like wow, this is wild,” he added.

Needless to say, such an explosive claim was met with a major outcry along with calls to name names and dish the details as leftists pounced on Cawthorn’s comments by making their own claims that whoever it was had to be a conservative.

One who is demanding answers is Meghan McCain, former co-host on ABC’s “The View” and the daughter of deceased GOP Senator John McCain, a man who took his loathing of former President Donald J. Trump and the Make America Great Again movement to his grave.

Like a shark sensing blood in the water, McCain pounced, tweeting, “So, Madison Cawthorne only hangs out with hard core MAGA people in DC…”

“The American public deserves to know which members of congress are doing cocaine and having orgies because they are unfit for office,” she wrote, adding “Should we all just start guessing the people he’s talking about?”

Not surprisingly, McCain’s Twitter replies were chock full of speculation, all of it involving Republican lawmakers, particularly those who have supported Trump.

According to a Politico report, the congressman’s remarks rattled cages: “During a closed-door House GOP conference meeting on Tuesday, multiple Republicans in the room said lawmakers stood up to air their anger and frustration over Cawthorn portraying his own colleagues as bacchanalian and sexual deviants.”

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy reportedly plans to have a sit-down meeting with Rep. Cawthorn to discuss his wild claims.
