Liberal comic Jon Stewart tore into cable media execs who decline to be interviewed about their industry for his show on Apple TV, brutally calling out their hypocrisy in a boiling hot rant that pulls no punches.
In a clip that’s drawing attention on social media, the former “Daily Show” star unloaded on the unnamed figures who love to thump their chests about transparency but when it comes to honest talk about content, are some of the least transparent people around.
“We’re not going to have an interview with somebody who runs a news division, who used to run a news division,” he said during a discussion with “The Problem with Jon Stewart” crew.
“So far, it’s been a resounding no,” said senior episode producer Reza.
“You’re an industry that relies on transparency and access, and democracy dies in darkness,” Stewart said, referencing the ridiculous slogan adopted by The Washington Post after Donald J. Trump won the 2016 election.
“And you’re saying that locked in a f**king closet with the lights out and you won’t say it on camera,” he added.

“These are people that stand outside of people’s homes after their child has been murdered and say, talk to me,” he added, “come out and tell us how you feel, and they act like you owe them and then you ask them to just come on and defend their f**king business model.”
“Have you tried going outside their houses?” asked head writer Chelsea, as laughter erupted around the table.
In clips from the actual show, Stewart eviscerates the media and unloads on the Mueller report, the culmination of special counsel Robert Mueller’s sweeping investigation into Trump and his associates that was breathlessly hyped by the media which claimed that it would take down the duly elected former president but in actuality, was a complete dud.

“The media keeps informing us how incredibly important they are to our survival because knowing keeps us free,” he said, “but when given crucial informational tasks, they instead build us prisons of what the f**k are you people talking about,” he said.
“He said at the end, it’s 400 pages, who can declare victory here?” Stewart said of Mueller’s final product. “I believe Satan can.”
“You motherf**kers spent two years filled with breaking bombshells and urgent explosions and teed up a season finale for the ages, a noose tightened, closed wall, family-style jailgasm, and all we got was a f**kin’ book report that we had to print ourselves,” he said.
Twitter chimed in on Stewart’s torching of the media.

It’s because they would have to admit the business model changed decades ago. It’s *not* about accuracy, it’s about ratings, curating your political niche, and throwing raw meat (real or plant based) to your constituency to maintain said ratings.

As some pointed out, Stewart has been a part of the problem but he does deserve credit for calling it out now even if it is too little, too late to make a difference.
