A sad Chuck Todd was forced to acknowledge that things are looking grim for Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections as President Joe Biden’s miserable performance appears to be a major contributor to the end of one-party rule after a hellish two years.
On the latest edition of NBC’s flagship Sunday morning show “Meet the Press,” the host of the long-running gabfest along with his downtrodden panel chatted about the results of the network’s latest poll which was called a “huge red flag” for Democrats who are widely expected to be clobbered in November by a resurgent GOP.
Todd kicked off the show by sharing the numbers from a new NBC poll that shows that only 28 percent of Americans said that they have little confidence in Biden’s performance during the war between Ukraine and Russia, an atrocious number considering how Democrats and their media allies were able to deftly shift the narrative from the economy and COVID to the conflict overseas as a distraction from domestic woes.
Even worse for Democrats who are chained at the hip to the deeply unpopular president, is that 71 percent of respondents have very little confidence in his war leadership and a supermajority of 68 percent want Biden to make the economy top priority, a flashing sign that Americans want to see their own suffering from staggering inflation and record gas prices get more attention than events on the other side of the planet.
Biden’s job approval stands at a dismal 40 percent with 55 percent disapproving, according to Todd.

Later in the show after interviewing guests over Ukraine and the Ketanji Brown Jackson Supreme Court confirmation hearings, Todd and his panel chewed the fat over the ominous poll numbers for Democrats facing the loss of their majority in the critical midterm elections.
While the numbers in the latest generic poll show Republicans up on Democrats by only 46-44 percent, the devil is in the details in that it is the first time that their poll has shown the GOP leading since 2014 when they rode public dissatisfaction with Barack Obama into regaining control of the Senate in what many referred to as a “Republican wave” election.
“Well, I looked up the 1942 midterms didn’t go well for FDR and the Democrats, for what it’s worth, “clucked Todd as he sought to put a positive spin on the results.

“I’m going to put up our generic ballot test here,” said a disappointed Todd. “The public’s going to look at it, you’ll see 46/44; Republicans up by two, that’s a coin flip.
“This is the first time we’ve had Republicans leading on the generic ballot in our poll since September of 2014, eight years ago,” he said. “There’s always a little bit of a Democratic, because Democrats are more packed in some districts here,”
“This is a huge red flag,” Todd said.
“It’s a huge red flag,” panel member Yamiche Alcindor agreed, “and it is coupled with the idea that people are blaming President Biden’s policies for inflation, it’s coupled with the idea that Americans are still very, very concerned about how much they’re paying for so many other things – not just gas – and that also is, I think, part of the reason why when you ask people right now, they’re essentially saying that Republicans are the ones who they trust with the economy.”
“That’s going to be a hard thing for Democrats to overcome and to message about,” she said.
As if the news for Democrats and their exalted leader couldn’t get any worse, Americans aren’t buying the “Putin Price Hike” malarkey with only 6 percent putting the blame for crushing inflation on Russian aggression, a sign that the public isn’t as dumb as the White House and Democrat leaders seem to think they are.

None other than honest Abe Lincoln put it best when he famously quipped, “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
Despite their efforts, the Biden regime and its media mouthpieces have been unsuccessful in pulling the wool over the eyes of Americans on who is really responsible for their economic pain.
