Warren, Pressley other top Dems helped empower BLM activist indicted for fraud, as did media

Following the indictment of a high-profile Black Lives Matter activist, the question of culpability remains for influential Democrats who helped her accomplish her alleged crime.

Monica Cannon-Grant, CEO of the nonprofit organization Violence in Boston (VIB), was indicted by a grand jury last week on charges that she and her husband, Clark Grant, committed fraud against the charity meant to reduce violence in underserved communities.

As reported, the 18-count indictment alleges they used donations for personal use including travel, hotel reservations, and meals while also receiving approximately $100,000 in illegitimate unemployment benefits. Now, Massachusetts-based blogger Aidan Kearney wants to know what will become of the prominent figures who helped the couple.

Kearney compiled a list of individuals and organizations that either turned a blind eye or actively funded and endorsed the activities of Cannon-Grant.

“They chose to ignore her transparent fraud,” Kearney told the Washington Examiner, “and not only donated to her, but participated in racial justice forums hosted by Monica. Without their complicity, she never would’ve been able to do what she did.”

For instance, the blogger laid out on TB Daily News how former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh allegedly provided the use of a 4,000 square foot building to house her VIB charity on the taxpayer dime. Walsh also facilitated a meeting with the Secretary of Labor which reportedly led to Cannon-Grant being awarded $54,000 in COVID relief that she spent on herself.

Progressive Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) regularly promoted the activist even after Cannon-Grant allegedly threatened to murder Pressley’s Republican rival in the 2020 election. Cannon-Grant’s Twitter handle is @ProRockThrower.

Their relationship stretches back several years and the 2020 Bostonian of the Year even worked on Pressley’s election campaign.

As Pressley quoted, “adults don’t make mistakes, they make choices.”

Much like the choice that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) made to donate to VIB and participate in her racial justice forums. Warren actively promoted the charity on social media in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

“I believe that this is a moment when white Americans need to come together with all justice-loving people and ask what we can do to dismantle a system that has for too long undervalued Black people,” Warren stated in a conversation that was meant to garner donations to VIB. “We cannot simply be allies. We must be anti-racist.”

The media was also complicit in promoting Cannon-Grant as NBC regularly featured her to discuss topics like the Boston Police Department and efforts to “push for equality.”

Kearney attributes the most grievance offense to the Boston Globe for providing the activist with a vehicle to write op-eds. This, he said, “glorified her as a civil rights icon” and they’re naming her as a Bostonian of the Year in 2020 only further allowed her to capitalize.
