Fake news pops up faster than Fauci after ‘frustrated’ Ted Cruz is seen dealing with airport mix-up, cops

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) missed his flight Sunday and reportedly caused such a ruckus that a police officer got involved with the “frustrated passenger.”

Cruz was departing Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport on his way back to Washington D.C. following a non-publicized trip to Montana. The Senator was due to be back first thing Monday in order to participate in the Senate confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.

In the short clip, which appears to have been filmed by an airport employee based on the side of the counter the footage was taken from, Cruz is seen in two separate cuts discussing the circumstances.

The first portion of the video shows the senator talking to two female employees. While the original post on Reddit described Cruz to be “accosting airline employees…after missing his flight” the video itself only appears to show a measured conversation.

Later in the video, the two airport employees Cruz had been talking with are replaced with an officer. At no point throughout the video can the conversation clearly be made out. However, the Daily Mail spoke with representatives from the airline and to verify some of the information.

“One of our Public Safety Officers (PSO) was in the ticket lobby and was asked to assist with a frustrated passenger at the United ticket counter (which is not unusual),” said Scott Humphrey, deputy director of the airport.

“The passenger had missed the check-in window for his flight and re-booking options were limited out of Bozeman due to Spring Break,” he went on. “Once travel options were explained to the passenger, he was rebooked and departed Bozeman later that evening. Our PSO didn’t realize he was dealing with Senator Cruz until after the fact.”

Critics from the left are attempting to blow the altercation out of proportion likening it to a February 2021 trip.

Though he was shamed by the media for the incident, cooler heads pointed out that under normal circumstances the senator would have been in D.C. rather than Texas anyway. Further, there are no authorities granted to a federal legislator that would allow him to intervene, especially when Congress was on recess for the weekend.

However, facts never stop the character assassinations like this retweet from a former NBC executive who dredged up the trip to Cancun.

Keith Olbermann editorialized the airport incident stating the senator “was apparently so out-of-control abusive to airline staff at the airport in Bozeman, Montana, that law enforcement had to get involved.

The senator has issued no statements on the matter at this time. As Cruz was reportedly wearing a Gonzales flag-themed “come and take it” mask, it’s worth noting that he has described his rapport with airline officials as being quite cordial.

“Almost without exception, every time I’m on an airplane, either the captain or a flight attendant will come up to me, will hug me and say, ‘Thank you for fighting for us,'” Cruz stated on March 9.
