A Virginia sailor named Tyler Lamar Jenkins, 26, allegedly shot another sailor three times on Friday after walking in on the man and his wife having sex in his bed at his home and then asked officers as he was being arrested what he had done wrong.
The wife told officers that she “feared for her life” when Jenkins walked in on them as she was “engaged in a sexual act” with Timothy Paul Talley III, 28. She thought he was trying to shoot both of them. The victim was an aviation machinist’s mate in the Navy and was from California.
Talley was shot three times during the “domestic-related shooting death” and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was killed just before 10 pm Friday night, according to a police statement.
Jenkins lives in the 4800 block of Crystalline Place in Virginia Beach at an apartment complex and was taken into custody there by police after his wife called 911.

“What am I doing wrong? Did y’all get the gun that I shot him with?” Jenkins unbelievably asked while he was being arrested. He allegedly justified the shooting by telling officers that the man was having sex with his wife in his house.
He admitted to shooting Talley and police reportedly found the weapon that was used in the crime.
It is not clear whether the men knew each other and the police have not stated a motive for the killing, although that seems apparent given the circumstances. It is also not known if Jenkins’ wife serves in the Navy.
Jenkins was charged with second-degree murder after killing his wife’s lover and also faces a count of malicious wounding and gun charges.
The name of the wife has not been released and she is reportedly unharmed.
He was arraigned on Monday and is being held without bond. Jenkins was reportedly denied a public defender due to his income and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12, according to the Daily Mail. A bond hearing may be scheduled once he retains a private attorney.
According to the bail determination sheet, the sailor has been employed by the U.S. Navy since 2014.
The killing follows another murder in Virginia Beach last week allegedly by a sailor high on drugs who horrifically used a dumbbell to kill a man, according to ABC 8 News.
Jason Jablonski, 41, got into a fight with Herbert Bryant, 45, while “on a crack bender” before beating Bryant with a dumbbell hitting him repeatedly in the face. He then allegedly pushed the dumbbell down on the victim’s neck until he stopped moving, according to court documents. He proceeded to drag the victim’s body outside before fleeing the scene.
Jablonski is assigned to Naval Station Norfolk. He is charged with second-degree murder. Heather Totty, 35, is also charged with accessory after the fact. Both she and Jablonski are from Virginia Beach.
