Parents fume at teacher’s union for falsely blaming Covid, when mom actually drank herself to death

A Chicago-area mother who reportedly died from COVID, and who was used by a teachers’ union to make the case for harsh measures in local schools, actually passed away from chronic ethanolism, or in layman’s terms, she drank herself to death.

When 32-year-old Denisha Henry, the parent of an eighth-grader at Jensen Elementary Scholastic Academy in the Windy City’s East Garfield Park district died in September along with the mother of another student who also passed away. The teachers’ union was quick to politicize the deaths and the two women became the rallying point of their effort to keep restrictions in place as the contentious national debate over masking, remote learning and school closures raged.

According to the  Chicago Teachers’ Union, Henry and 44-year-old Shenitha Curry caught the virus from a child at the school where over half of the classrooms were in quarantine.

Curry, who was not vaccinated and had multiple comorbidities died of pneumonia and on Monday, a Chicago-based website broke the news that Henry’s actual cause of death wasn’t even remotely what the union had represented it as.

According to a report from the Chicago City Wire, Henry’s death was less related to COVID than it was her taste for booze citing the conclusions from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s toxicology report which the outlet was able to obtain.

According to the website, “It said Denisha Henry, 32, died last September at Stroger Hospital of chronic ethanolism, not COVID-19, as was widely cited by CTU last fall as evidence schools were not safe and should remain closed.”

“A school source told Chicago City Wire that Jensen leadership knew last October that Henry’s death wasn’t COVID-19 related, though they weren’t admitting it publicly,” the outlet reported.

“She did not die from COVID. We all know that’s not true,” the source reportedly said.

“Henry and Curry’s deaths by COVID were widely reported in Chicago outlets, as parents and members of the Chicago Teachers’ Union used their deaths to call for the school to be shut down until better precautions could be taken, according to Block Club Chicago,” the Daily Mail reported.

They asked for more testing, ‘robust school-based vaccination programs and adequate staffing to support the needs of student traumatized by the harsh consequences of the pandemic.’

“CTU’s press announcement said ‘COVID claimed the life one 47-year-old school mother, and a second 32-year-old mother died,’ blaming children at the school for infecting them,” according to the Chicago City Wire.

“One mother complained bitterly on social media that she was never contacted by a contact tracer. Within a week she was dead,” the CTU press release said.

Some warned of the rush to judgment at the time, with one Twitter user pointing out that one woman had “several co morbitities” and that Henry’s “Autopsy isn’t complete pending a toxicology report” which clearly shows that she was not a victim of the coronavirus as the teachers’ union had been suggesting.

Parents were furious at the news.

“A CPS parent who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution told Chicago City Wire that CTU should be ashamed for misrepresenting the mothers’ deaths,” according to the report.

“My God, the burden they placed on those young children who lost their mothers. Telling them basically, you killed your mothers by going to school,” the parent said. “Shame on them! This proves they’ll stop at nothing to get what they want.”
