Biden reiterates Russian sanctions ‘not immediate,’ claims ‘World War III’ is the alternative

President Joe Biden made curious remarks on his own economic sanctions against Russia as he ominously suggested the alternative to financially punitive actions in a just-released interview with a progressive podcaster.

In the White House sit-down with Brian Taylor Cohen of the “No Lie” podcast, the “leader” of the free world discussed a range of issues including the mushrooming violence in Ukraine following the country’s invasion by Russian troops acting on orders from President Vladimir Putin.

Other than tough talk, the POTUS has relied on the use of the sanctions to put a choke chain on his Russian counterpart although some have questioned the effectiveness of such measures which have done little to deter the Kremlin’s aggression given their selective nature. In Biden’s eyes, the only other option is world war.

When talking about the latest round of sanctions, Biden told Cohen, “You have two options. Start a third world war, go to war with Russia physically,” Biden said, “or two, make sure that a country that acts so contrary to international law ends up paying a price for having done it,”

Biden then downplayed the effectiveness of his own sanctions, “and, there’s no sanction that is immediate, it’s not like you can sanction someone and say you’re no longer going to be able to be the president of Russia.'”

“But I think these sanctions, I know these sanctions are the broadest sanctions in history, and economic sanctions and political sanctions,’ he added, “and my goal from the very beginning was to make sure that I kept all of NATO and the European on the same page because the one thing that Putin thought he could do was to split NATO, creating a great aperture for him to be able to walk through and that hasn’t happened if you’ve noticed, there’s been complete unanimity and Russia will pay a serious price for this short term and long term…”

Biden isn’t the only one sending mixed messages on the sanctions, last week his Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh said that they were “designed” to prevent any “disruptions” in terms of Russian energy.

Then there was Biden himself who veered badly off script following the news of the invasion, telling reporters that “no one expected the sanctions to prevent anything from happening,” contradicting members of his own administration in a blunder that was so incomprehensible that White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had to engage in damage control, assuring the press that he didn’t really mean it.

During his interview with Cohen, Biden also spoke of his brazen discrimination over filling the Supreme Court seat following the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer, touting his pick of U.S Appeals Court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, a radical black activist as restoring “the soul of the country,” which he claims will be a key part of his legacy.

Unfortunately for Biden, that legacy also includes the loss of Ukraine and Afghanistan with an emboldened China making noises that Taiwan could be next and with nearly three years left in office, he still has plenty of time to add World War III to his list of achievements.
