Thousands of truckers and protesters are beginning the journey across the United States in various convoys heading towards Washington, D.C., to protest government overreach, vaccine mandates, and a whole list of other grievances, finding support among Americans as long as it remains peaceful.

Fox News interviewed a number of Americans who expressed their support for the truckers and their version of Canada’s “Freedom Convoy” but with some conditions. They reportedly want a peaceful protest and don’t want streets and highways brought to a standstill because of the protest.

“As long as they are being peaceful, as long as they’re not getting violent with counter-protesters … or the police,” one man named Patrick told the media outlet.

“We have freedom of assembly guaranteed in the Constitution,” he noted. “So, therefore, they need to be allowed to assemble. We have freedom of speech, so, therefore, they need to be able to voice their opinions.”

Another man named Howard who is from Alabama stated, “Sometimes you need to take extra measures to get your point across and do things that need to be done.”

“I think it’s going to make the prices go up and the supply get limited, and I think it’s going to make life harder,” a woman named Candy fearfully told Fox News.

Convoy leaders are reportedly concerned not only over vaccine mandates but over the high cost of fuel and illegal immigration.

“My community, the black community, has really been impacted by COVID,” a woman from Atlanta stated in support of the mandates. “I alone have had 15 people that I know personally who have died of COVID. So, I’m a proponent of making the mandates because we’ve got to get control … it keeps mutating, so we’ve got to get control of it.”

But others such as Jeanna from Florida did not agree with that assessment, saying, “I think that getting rid of all the mandates and letting everyone get back to normal and live more like we do down here in Florida is a really good thing,”

“So yes, I would support it in that respect, and I think they can make a big difference,” she added.

“With what they did up in Canada and all the freezing of assets and the crackdown that they’re doing on those guys up there for peaceful protesting, it just doesn’t seem right,” Jeanna said, expressing worry that there would be severe consequences for those taking part in the protest.

“In Kansas, they go clear across I-70,” claimed Kenny who has experienced convoy protests before. “They don’t hurt anybody, you know, they don’t slow anybody up. They’re just making a statement, but I don’t agree with them like they did in Canada.”

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has approved the Pentagon deploying 700 to 800 unarmed National Guard troops in the capital because the protest coincides with President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address next week.

Whereas a number of people Fox News talked to seemed to support the convoys up to a certain point, many others are fully supporting the protest. Others worry about infiltration:
