Two years into the pandemic, the Biden administration is now attempting to recalculate COVID-19 hospitalizations and Politico is explaining “why.”
This should be good.
Scientists and data specialists from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be seeking cooperation with hospitals to better report COVID-19 data, Politico reported.

The reported reasoning for the recalculation is to gain a better scope on the current state of the pandemic and guide public policy on the continued need for mitigation efforts like masking.
This “why” is not how the public views it.

Others strayed from mere nods and winks at Politico to call out the suspected reason for the change.

This turnaround comes on the heel of many statements made by public officials unable to provide answers for why this hasn’t been the reporting method all along.

It is unclear from the reporting if this new task force will be working to address concerns over how these hospitalization reports have impacted the pandemic death total from the onset.
