Pete Davidson was met by an arena full of boos while in attendance at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY.
Davidson, an alum of “Saturday Night Live,” was at the Dome Saturday night to watch the men’s basketball game where Louisville faced off against Syracuse.
The game was being broadcast on ESPN2 and when Davidson appeared on the display monitor above the court and play-by-play announcer Doug Sherman explained the long memory of the Syracuse fans.
“That is, a man who just got booed by the folks here at The Dome for good reason,” Sherman began. “Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live, a few years ago, when in town filming a movie decided to call the folks here in central New York trash.”
After mocking the outfit that Davidson was wearing, ESPN analyst Chris Spatola replied to Sherman, “I did hear that Howard Stern interview. I’m surprised he was allowed in the building, with the way he spoke of the great city of Syracuse.”

Davidson’s interview on “The Howard Stern Show” occurred in 2019 when the now 28-year-old was filming “Big Time Adolescence” in Syracuse.
“Dude,” Davidson began, “I was shooting this movie out in Syracuse. Syracuse, you know, it’s trash.”
“Worse than Staten Island,” the Staten Island native continued. “The nicest hotel in Syracuse is, like, a f**king Ramada.”
Davidson was later filmed seeking what appears to be an apology from the city of Syracuse by local basketball reporter Mike Curtis.
“After attending his first college basketball game, and a healthy amount of boos from the crowd, Pete Davidson has a message for the city of Syracuse,” Curtis wrote, “and it sounds like he wants a truce.”

Davidson can be heard saying, “Hello Syracuse Orangemen. Thank you so much for having me and my friends in the building. We had a really great time. So, peace?”
The interview with Stern was not the only time that Davidson had choice words about the city of Syracuse, though.
“The whole town of Syracuse blows,” he told Variety in 2019, relating a story of when he was pulled over and charged with possession of marijuana.
“Let’s be honest, they found out I was there and tried to arrest me the whole time…because there’s nothing going on there, they were hunting me down the whole time,” he said. “They tried to arrest me for bringing business to your town. Never again, Syracuse.”
Twitter users had their take on Davidson’s call for peace, though some still found him “adorable.”
