Sandy, Oregon Mayor Stan Pulliam, who is the purported GOP favorite to win the gubernatorial race in that state in the midterm elections this year, has admitted that he and his wife briefly belonged to a Portland swingers club before deciding that “it wasn’t for us.”

In 2016, the 40-year-old insurance executive and his wife, MacKensey Pulliam, joined the 536-member “Swinger Facebook Group PDX.” He claims at the time they were exploring an open relationship. The membership was revealed this week after a screenshot of a message he posted in the group went public on Facebook and a photo from Portland’s Erotic Ball in 2011 surfaced.

“Hi Everyone!,” the mayor wrote at the time. “MacKensey and I are excited to be added to your little community. Some of you we have already had the pleasure to meet and we look forward to getting to know the rest of you!”

The Willamette Week reported that Pulliam admitted the screenshot was authentic: “Sandy Mayor Stan Pulliam, a leading candidate for the Republican nomination for governor, told WW today that prior to entering the race, he and his wife, MacKensey, ‘explored relationships, mutual relationships with other couples, for a brief period of time before ultimately deciding that it wasn’t for us.'”

“Sitting for a Zoom interview Thursday afternoon alongside MacKensey, his wife of 12 years, Pulliam, 40, repeatedly declined to specify when the ‘mutual relationships’ began or ended, except to say that 2016 was an accurate date and their participation ended well before he began running for governor,” the outlet noted.

“I think people can relate from all different parts of the state who have been involved in marriages,” Pulliam said, justifying the situation. “There are different stages of marriage and different ebbs and flows. This is something that was for a brief period in our past and is in the past.”

“In Oregon, we really cherish values of individuality and liberty,” he continued. “The decisions that we made were for MacKensey and I to make in the privacy of our own homes.”

“We’re certainly not asking anybody to participate or practice or do any of the things that we have decided to do in the past. But we’re also certainly not ashamed of decisions that we’ve made in the past either, as they’ve made us stronger,” Pulliam contended.

Pulliam claims that he and his wife have received a great deal of support over the matter and he also denied he was bisexual.

“I’m a heterosexual male,” the mayor asserted. “And I’ve only personally engaged in heterosexual activity.”

“Several years ago, MacKensey and I, as a couple explored relationships with other couples for a brief period of time before we ultimately decided to focus solely on each other, our marriage, and our family,” Pulliam told the Daily Mail in a statement. “And ever since, day in and day out, we’ve worked as a team to strengthen our family and to create a better community and state for our girls, and the hundreds of thousands of kids just like them, so they can safely grow up, live, work and stay right here in Oregon.”

Pulliam claims he is pro-life. pro-Second Amendment, pro-medical freedom, and pro-private-property rights. He is in second place in the packed Republican Party primary for Oregon and it’s obvious he has no intention of dropping out over the matter.

There are currently twelve candidates who are vying for Democrat Governor Kate Brown’s seat, according to Ballotpedia. Pulliam has raised nearly $1 million in contributions, outdistancing all of his competition with the exception of Republican state Representative Christine Drazen of Canby.

Poll results released by GOP opponent Bud Pierce, an oncologist from Salem who was the Republican nominee in 2016, show Pulliam trailing behind him in second place in the race.

Pulliam is an ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump who also questions the results of the 2020 presidential election. He declared in a Feb. 1 tweet, “I am the ONLY candidate who has the courage to say what needs to be said about the integrity of our elections. If you want an ACTUAL conservative as your next governor then we need your help!”
