Just weeks into President Biden’s second year in office and a new survey finds half of voters polled are more than merely fed up.
The new Rasmussen Reports and The National Pulse poll asked participants: “Some Republicans in Congress have endorsed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, citing his immigration policy and his failure in Afghanistan, among other reasons. Do you support or oppose impeaching President Biden?”
Conducted January 26-27, 2022, the poll found 50 percent of likely voters support impeachment, and 45 oppose such a measure. While it may come as no surprise that 74 percent of Republican respondents are in favor, the 42 percent of Independents and 34 percent of Democrats supporting this action should cause great concern for the Biden administration.

Articles of impeachment have already been filed twice by House Republicans since Biden took office.
In September 2021, Reps. Bob Gibbs (OH), Andy Biggs (AZ), Brian Babin (TX), and Randy Weber (TX) introduced articles charging that Biden first, “violated his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of President,” violated the separation of powers, “despite clear warning from the U.S. Supreme Court,” and lastly, “failed to act responsibly as Commander in Chief with regard to the withdrawal of United States forces from Afghanistan.”
This came after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) had introduced articles of impeachment on Biden’s first day in office.
While the poll did not narrow down the specific cause for concern among voters, there are many reports that could indicate the cause for Biden’s continued cratering approval rating with only 38.7 percent in favor of Biden handling his job and 59.2 percent disapproving, according to the Trafalgar Group.
The National Pulse, sponsor of the Rasmussen Poll, recently highlighted that Biden had spent more than 25 percent of his term on vacation by the beginning of this calendar year. That amounted to 95 of his 348 days in office away from his responsibilities. This included during the fall of Kabul, Afghanistan when 13 US service members were killed.

There are also ongoing questions surrounding mounting military action in Ukraine. Recall that President Trump had been impeached with regard to a July 2019 call that he had with Ukrainian President Zelensky.
Now Biden has raised similar concerns over a recent conversation he had with Zelensky leading many to demand on social media, #ReleaseTheTranscript.
On Biden’s potential impeachment, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said it’s “not out of the realm of possibility,” and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) believes “there’s a chance of that, whether it’s justified or not.”
If these trends of bipartisan support for impeachment continue, at least Biden can be remembered for staying true to a promise he made to “unify” the nation as then-President-Elect: “I pledge to be a President who seeks not to divide but unify – who doesn’t see Red states and Blue states, only sees the United States.”
