In the latest kerfuffle over podcaster Joe Rogan giving interviews to some guests with views on Covid-19 some consider pseudoscience, ex-royals Harry Windsor and Meghan Markle have deigned to weigh in with an unsolicited opinion.
As the angry internet mob descends on Rogan and Spotify, demanding that the platform remove the popular podcaster, there has been no shortage of dramatic statements and calls to action. Neil Young demanded that Spotify pick him or Rogan (they picked Rogan, of course), followed by Joni Mitchell and Nils Lofgren. The Washington Post ran a story saying the “misinformation reckoning” had come for Spotify, and there was obligatory virtue signaling on Twitter.
Having never seen a woke cause that they didn’t like, Markle and her pet husband released a statement in which they asserted that they had been trying to get Spotify to stand up against misinformation since last year, shown here with some commentary courtesy of Piers Morgan:
If anyone knows about ‘spreading disinformation’, it’s these two disingenuous clowns & their sycophantic media lickspittle. https://t.co/iKLXEoIRwk

This prompted widespread ridicule across Twitter, as most conservatives, alongside anyone who was tired of being lectured to by celebrities, jumped in to comment on the self-important, condescending vibe emanating from the couple and their statement.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens ripped in to the former royals.
Everyday Harry and Meghan wake up and think “how can we make millions more people around the world hate us?”
“Oh, I heard Joe Rogan has 50 million unique listeners— let’s write an open letter indicating our inherent self-importance, and demand Spotify begin censoring him” https://t.co/gSA9kiyuef— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) January 31, 2022
A brief follow up from Harry and Meghan—

I think my favorite absurdity of the Joe Rogan dust-up thus far is Harry and Meghan, who have been paid roughly $1 million per minute of podcast they’ve produced for Spotify, harrumphing that the company “meet the moment” lest they take the 35 mins of work elsewhere.

“This is an interesting angle on the current issue Harry & Meghan have with Spotify, which is that the platform paid them £18 million [$24 million] in December 2020 to deliver original podcasts but published nothing in 12 months and now Spotify is having to take over production to make content,” Nick Stylianou, a U.K. based journalist, wrote.

The couple’s popularity has continued to decline amid complaints about unwanted and unsolicited interference in the American government, particularly by Republican congressmen, who want the two to “stay in their lane,” and presumably out of America’s business.
