Adam Carolla is calling out the Johnny-come-latelies among Bill Maher’s audience who have suddenly concluded that that they have a safe space to acknowledge that the coronavirus pandemic could be over.
“Watching the Bill Maher show. Now you pu–ies clap when Bill talks about getting back to normal. Shut the f— up and admit you were wrong,” the comedian and podcaster wrote on Twitter.
Maher, the HBO “Real Time” host, has increasingly criticized the left for its COVID-related paranoia and for following anything but actual science.
On recent broadcasts, for example, he insisted that it’s time to get back to ordinary living and that “liberals are always suggesting sacrifices they themselves don’t have to take part in.”

Sitting across from Maher on the set earlier this month, journalist Bari Weiss, who claimed she was “done” with COVID, decried a “pandemic of bureaucracy,” and similarly advocated a return to normalcy.
She even characterized some of the heavy-handed restrictions as constituting “a catastrophic moral crime.”

As someone who typically ridicules Republicans and loathes ex-President Donald Trump, Maher — who considers himself an old-school liberal — has the bandwidth to push back against the conventional COVID narrative.
His opinions on COVID (and certain other issues such as critical race theory) are particularly impactful to the extent that he reaches an audience that never consumes any conservative-related content.
Typically, Maher’s progressive, in-studio audience hesitates to react approvingly when he challenges the left. As Carolla alluded to, however, things seem to have changed.

Back in the day, Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel co-created the irreverent (to say the least) Comedy Central program called “The Man Show.”
While Carolla has moved to the right over the years as an independent producer, Kimmel has become a Democrat cheerleader as host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
While the doom-and-gloom cohort on social media favors the status quo, others concur with the Carolla assessment of the situation:
20yrs from now, everybody’ll mysteriously become “..oh, yeah, I was ALWAYS against the lockdowns.” ppl.
And nobody’ll say “..oh, yeah, I got all caught up in that Covid panic. So embarrassing.”
And that’s why we need to have a collective psychotic break every few decades.

I can’t believe I am saying this. @billmaher is our only hope.

I can guarantee that none of my friends I lost will ever admit they were wrong. I would accept it, but I just don’t see it happening.

They’re going to try and flip the script. They’ll claim they were all about freedoms, and the right was about Gov. Control. People will believe it.

One day all of the folks who were taken in by the panic porn will look back and realize draconian lockdowns and masking of children were massively damaging.
Oh, who am I kidding? Of course they won’t.

We shouldn’t chastise and discourage people from seeing the light now. We should be welcoming and encourage more to do so.

The seals clap no matter what he says. The signs says “clap” so they do it. No convictions. No character. Just mindlessly doing as they are told.
— VirusGonnaVirus (@AK49DT) January 30, 2022
They won’t admit. Cognitive dissonance will make them say “those 2 years were useful/needed, now is the time to move on. It was covid19 that inflicted the pain” when in reality a big part of the pain was self-inflicted (harmful anti-covid19 measures)

What is sad is that @bariweiss , @billmaher and all those clapping in the audience will turn around and vote for the same people keeping us from returning to normal… that’s the bigger problem! Repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different result : insanity!

You’re 100% correct Adam. I have a burning desire to gloat as well. However, that just puts people on their heels. The goal is to regain freedoms, not prove we were right. Let’s let go of bitterness, welcome them into reality, and continue building an army of freedom.
