Wasting no time, Virginia’s new AG announces major investigations of Parole Board, Loudoun Co. schools

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares wasted no time after being sworn in, announcing explosive new investigations into the state’s Parole Board and Loudoun County Public Schools within hours of taking office.

“On January 15, I’m going to swear an oath of allegiance, and it’s not going to be any political party. It’s not going to be the Governor-elect Youngkin, who is a good friend, but it’s gonna be the people of Virginia,” the new attorney general said. “I’m going to follow the law, even if sometimes I maybe disagree with the law, but I’m going to try to follow what the law is.”

Governor Youngkin signed two executive orders granting Miyares the ability to open the investigations on his first day as governor and the attorney general followed through with them, according to WTKR.

Miyares, 45, released a statement on Saturday making the sweeping announcement that is sure to have a number of individuals quaking in their boots: “One of the reasons Virginians get so fed up with government is the lack of transparency – and that’s a big issue here. The Virginia Parole Board broke the law when they let out murders, rapists, and cop killers early on their sentences without notifying the victims. Loudoun Country Public Schools covered up a sexual assault on school grounds for political gain, leading to an additional assault of a young girl.”

“These investigations are not to solely go after or bring criminal charges against any one actor, but to learn what mistakes were made so that no other Parole Board or schools ever repeats them,” he proclaimed.

“It’s unconscionable that you had some victims that found out their loved one’s killer has been released by this Parole Board by sometimes just hearing about it on the nightly news,” Miyares remarked, according to WTVR.

Miyares will also take over investigations when he believes “social justice Commonwealth’s attorneys” fail to do their jobs.

Loudoun County became ground zero for Virginia parents protesting the teaching of Critical Race Theory. The issue was a major one in Republican Glenn Youngkin’s race against Democrat Terry McAuliffe. The topic blew up following the arrest of a teenage student who wore a skirt into a high school bathroom and raped a female student. The predator was transferred to another school where he allegedly raped another girl.

When the first victim’s father complained that the school district covered up the crime, he was handcuffed and dragged out of a school board meeting. The boy in question has now been put on probation and has been placed on the sex offenders registry for life. There are still many unanswered questions regarding culpability for the whole horrific situation.

Miyares and Youngkin are also setting their sights on Biden’s COVID mandates in the state. The new governor has now nixed mandatory masks in schools, leaving it up to parents.

“While we believe that the vaccine is a critical tool in the fight against COVID-19, we strongly believe that the Federal government cannot impose its will and restrict the freedoms of Americans and that Virginia is at its best when her people are allowed to make the best decisions for their families or businesses,” Miyares said in a joint statement with Youngkin.

As the new attorney general prepared to take office, he notified 30 staff members that they were no longer employed. Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas tweeted that Miyares fired the “entire” civil rights division, which turned out not to be true.

“This is incorrect information,” Miyares spokeswoman Victoria LaCivita stated. “There are 12 individuals who work in the Office of Civil Rights – only two personnel changes were made.”

“During the campaign, it was made clear that now-Attorney General-elect Miyares and Attorney General Herring have very different visions for the office,” LaCivita told Richmond.com in an interview. “We are restructuring the office, as every incoming AG has done in the past.”

Attorney General Miyares’ family fled communist Cuba and he considers being elected to the new position to be a great honor.
