While the Texas synagogue hostage situation was still unfolding, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) warned of a “religious war” in an interview on the Fox News Channel. He also declared that Donald Trump is the “most viable” 2024 presidential candidate in either political party.

Appearing on “Justice with Judge Jeanine” on the host’s penultimate show (Jeanine Pirro is switching over to “The Five” fulltime) on Saturday evening, Graham also warned of a perfect storm of foreign policy dangers.

Graham apparently had a skin cancer lesion, or something equivalent, removed at Walter Reed Hospital, thus the bandage above his nose.

“This is a religious war. What did I say on your show when we withdrew from Afghanistan? That this is a perfect storm brewing,” he told Pirro in the context of President Joe Biden’s national and international security failures in sharp contrast to the scenario that existed when President Trump left office.

“The rise in terrorism by the Taliban taking back over; al Qaeda roams freely in Afghanistan. ISIS is alive and well over there, and the border is broken,” Graham said. “It’s just a matter of time before terrorists over there come through our border and kill a bunch of Americans.”

The senator then cited an animated video shared on the official website of Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei about killing Donald Trump.

“I don’t know about the fact pattern here, but also this week, the Ayatollah’s people, the people around him, released a video indicating a desire to kill President Trump on a golf course, Graham said, before adding, “And the Biden administration hasn’t done a damn thing…so this week has been a terrible week for the country, but the fact that we continue to negotiate with the Iranians, as if nothing happened, is an outrage…”

Continued negotiations by U.S. team under these circumstances would indicate to the Iranians that the Biden administration is “pathetically weak,” Sen. Graham said.

Graham was referring to the video embedded below.

Twitter has permanently banned the account linked to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that shared the animated video on the platform, but “other accounts for Khamenei remain active on the site,” according to Newsweek.

In June 2021,  Graham told Pirro’s FNC colleague Sean Hannity that he’s “never been more worried than I am right now about a war between Iran and Israel” and that “the Iranians want to dominate Syria, Iraq, and Iran. They want to build a weapon to hold the world hostage and destroy the state of Israel.”

The Biden administration seems eager to rejoin the flawed and loophole-filled  Iran nuclear deal (otherwise known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) from which President Trump withdrew in May 2018.

Parenthetically, in a revealing 2016 New York Times Magazine article, Obama adviser Ben Rhodes implied that he created a false narrative that there was a moderate wing of the Tehran regime to sell the Iran deal to America. He also admitted that the Obama administration bamboozled gullible journalists as part of gaslighting support for the deal.

Details are still unfolding, but none of the hostages at the Colleyville, Texas, synagogue in the Fort Worth area were harmed. The suspect is reported dead.

Graham, who is sometimes RINO, sometimes MAGA, began the segment by heaping praise on ex-President Trump, his frequent golfing buddy.

“We live in dangerous times…here is my message. Ten or 11 years later, conservatism is on the rise, liberalism is on the run. And why is that? The Taliban are now back in charge of Afghanistan. We’ve got the highest inflation in 40 years. We’ve had the most illegal immigrants crossing in the history of the country. And crime is rampant.

“The Biden administration looks like my face. They’ve had a heck of a terrible year. And from a political perspective, Donald Trump is more viable for 2024 than Joe Biden and any other Republican.

“We’re a year away from the last election, and I’m stunned by the fact that Donald Trump is the most viable candidate in 2024 in either party, and policy matters. So my view of this is that the Republican Party is in great shape. I worry about the safety and security of our country. I pray for our friends in Texas,” the senator asserted.

Last week, Graham insisted that Mitch McConnell, or any would-be U.S. Senate majority leader if/when Republicans regain control of the chamber, must have a working relationship with President Trump.
