Lindsey Graham: I’ve never been more worried than now about an Iran-Israel war

President Joe Biden is too weak to stand up to Iran, a regime that wants to “hold the world hostage” if or when it gets its hands on a nuclear bomb.

This warning from U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) comes as the Biden administration seeks to reinstate the Obama-era, Iran nuclear deal that is officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and, in the process, lift sanctions against the regime that the U.S. government has officially designated as a state sponsor of terrorism.

Iran reportedly bankrolls the Hamas terrorist organization that controls Gaza.

In an appearance on “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, Graham claimed that “the Iranians are playing President Biden like a fiddle” and compared Iran’s ruling elite to that of Germany’s World War II genocidal dictatorship.

“The Ayatollah is a religious Nazi. Hitler wanted a master race. The Ayatollah wants a master religion,” Graham, a politician who is sometimes RINO and sometimes MAGA, declared.

“They’re trying to drive us out of Syria and Iraq so they can dominate Syria, Iraq, and Iran — the Shia Crescent. They’re trying to build a nuclear weapon to hold the world hostage and one day destroy the state of Israel. They’re on the path to accomplish all of that unless we make a correction now. I’ve never been more worried than I am right now about a war between Iran and Israel,” Graham continued.

It’s not just Israel that is at risk, however, as Graham subsequently alluded to, Israel’s neighbors also have grave concerns about Iran’s nuclear ambitions. A nuclear-power Iran would destabilize the entire region.

Graham also asserted that Russia and China are blundering into what might amount to an enemy-of-my-enemy strategy by providing weapons to Iran.

“The Russians and the Chinese believe that what’s bad for us is good for them here. They are making a mistake with Iran. Again, the Iranians want to dominate Syria, Iraq, and Iran. They want to build a weapon to hold the world hostage and destroy the state of Israel. The state of Israel is in a bad spot here. How much longer do they wait before they act? I don’t think you can trust the United States with Israel’s security,” the senator declared.

Graham, who does not appear to be a fan of withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, went on to imply that Iran’s leadership is playing chess while Biden is playing checkers.

“What Biden doesn’t understand is who the Ayatollah is. The Ayatollah has a game plan that doesn’t include Christians, Jews, or moderate Muslims — Shia or Sunni. So this is the most important event since the 30s. We have a chance to keep Iran on the ropes. We have a chance to keep them in a box, but every day they get stronger because Biden doesn’t understand the nature of the threat.”

Graham appeared to agree with Hannity that America’s enemies generally are emboldened because of the perceived lack of acumen by the current occupant of the White House. The senator also lamented that the federal budget only increases defense spending at a rate less than inflation.

“Here is my message to your viewers tonight. The Iranian regime are religious Nazis. They would kill all the Jews if they could. They would dominate the Mideast with a form of religion that would make the world an unbearable place to live and they would come after us. They’re trying to drive us out of the Mideast,” Graham said.

“They understand that Biden is weak, and he’s making the world a dangerous place by showing weakness. When Trump killed [Gen.] Soleimani, it reset our relationship with Iran. Everything Trump has accomplished Biden is undercutting,” Graham concluded in what might constitute a wake-up call to Sleepy Joe.

Hannity began the segment by citing a report that Iran-backed militias purportedly fired rockets at U.S. forces in Syria following U.S. airstrikes against those militia groups along the Iraq-Syria border.

Trump, who repeatedly condemned the Iran deal in part because of its glaring loopholes, withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018 in fulfillment of a campaign promise. In search of a legacy for his presidency, Barack Obama gave up all his leverage and made numerous concessions, which included sending an enormous amount of cash to Iran, to broker the agreement.

Parenthetically, in a revealing 2016 New York Times Magazine article, Obama adviser Ben Rhodes implied that he created a false narrative that there was a moderate wing of the Tehran regime to sell the Iran deal to America. He also admitted that the Obama administration bamboozled gullible journalists as part of gaslighting support for the deal.

Former (and perhaps future) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed that his country would never allow Iran to get a nuke.

Current Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who presides over a shaky and problematic right-left coalition, said last week that “A regime of brutal hangmen must never be allowed to have weapons of mass destruction. Israel’s position will not change on this.”

Prior to a meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin earlier this week, Biden told reporters that “Iran will never get a nuclear weapon on my watch,” NBC News reported. Some political observers here and overseas might wonder what exactly his watch means as a practical matter.

Biden also claimed that the U.S. has an “iron-clad” commitment to Israel, even though many Democrats, such as The Squad and those lawmakers and activists who support it, have become increasingly hostile to the Jewish state.

Note that the Israeli president is primarily a ceremonial position, as it is in most parliamentary democracies.
