The Northern Territory in Australia has just instituted a snap lockdown for the unvaccinated through Monday when a vaccine passport system will be introduced, ordering those who refuse to get the jab to not exercise or leave home for work until then.

“Work is not a reason to leave the home for the unvaccinated,” Chief Minister Michael Gunner said.

“The Chief Health Officer has also determined that restriction of movement is critical right now and that one hour of exercise for the next four days is not essential,” he added.

“There has been plenty of time for people to get vaccinated, people who are not vaccinated present the greatest risk of spreading the virus and are the most at risk of becoming seriously ill if they get the virus,” Gunner asserted.

“The fully vaccinated are free to continue to go about their lives as long as they comply with the territory-wide mask mandate,” he commented.

The territory is claiming they have set a new record of 256 COVID infections overnight. The lockdown is taking place from 1 p.m. on Thursday until 12 p.m. on Monday, according to Sky News. Citizens who have not been fully vaccinated can only leave their homes for three reasons that include essential shopping for food and other items, medical treatment including vaccination, or providing care.

Gunner announced that those who are vaccinated would not be affected by the lockdown, making it crystal clear the move is a punishment for those who will not submit to the jab. It is unclear if “fully vaccinated” includes a booster.

Gunner has also seen fit to restrict access to low-vaccination communities to only residents and essential workers. For individuals who visit or live in those areas, a negative rapid antigen test is required before they can travel.

“COVID is often an exponential problem. One positive case in the community usually sees more than one person affected,” Gunner told a COVID press conference on Thursday.

Unvaccinated individuals are not allowed to travel more than 30 km from their homes unless going to the hospital.

“The fully vaccinated can continue as they were,” he proclaimed. “For people who are not vaccinated, lockdown rules will apply to everyone aged 16 and above.”

“Today’s escalation in case numbers is concerning,” Gunner remarked. “Our community transmission rate has grown in recent days.”

The mandate comes just two days after the Northern Territory announced that fully-vaccinated arrivals would no longer be required to show evidence of a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before traveling to the territory. Instead, they will be handed a rapid antigen test when they arrive so they can self-test and then report the result within two hours.

“If you are in a queue down south trying to get a PCR test, leave and we will sort it out when you get here,” Gunner stated on Tuesday.

Children under the age of two are not required to be tested.

Gunner claims the change in policy is a response to testing challenges in other states that have seen long lines, delayed result delivery, and clinics closing.

“PCR supply and testing down south are getting thinner and thinner. They are buckling in some places. The shelves are empty of RAT kits,” he claimed, trying to justify his heavy-handed actions.

Gunner defended the decision to impose a vaccine pass, arguing it was “not radical” and that other states have already introduced the same measure.

“We’re doing this early as a sustainable measure that provides the best ability to control community transmission and who ends up in our hospitals,” he stated.

Citizens will need to show their vaccine pass in order to enter bars, clubs, casinos, restaurants, theaters, ticketed events for over 500 people in urban centers and 100 for non-urban centers.

Customers will need to show proof of vaccination via the Territory check-in app or with a Medicare vaccination certificate.

“Territorians love having a beer with their mates, and the overwhelming majority get to keep doing this. We want you to be as safe as possible while having a frothy or a feed,” Gunner said.

“I know there are unvaccinated people who can be impolite, I have experienced that. I do not want our hard-working frontline workers to experience that. If there are trouble makers who try to breach this direction – call the police,” he advised.

People just watch in awe as Australia has descended into blatant authoritarianism over COVID:
