Clueless libs rage at Glenn Youngkin for nightmare on snow-jammed VA hwy. But, there’s one problem

A massive snowstorm hit northern Virginia resulting in thousands of drivers being stranded on I-95 for many hours overnight, some abandoning their cars for shelter as liberals mistakenly blamed newly-elected incoming Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin for the disaster.

“I try not to tweet about daily inconveniences, but this experience has been insane. For the last 7+ hours, I’ve been stuck in my car, not moving, in a total shutdown of I-95 northbound about 30 miles south of DC. (1),” tweeted NBC reporter Josh Lederman, who did not blame Youngkin, but provided a detailed account of the nightmarish ordeal.

Thousands of drivers were reportedly stranded overnight into Tuesday morning. Some spent as much 20 to 27 hours in their cars. An estimated 20 to 30 trucks were stuck on I-95 northbound near the Thornburg exit, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation which claimed towing crews were on the scene. The standstill came after a crash involving six tractor-trailers occurred on the interstate.

Twitter allowed Youngkin’s name to trend on the platform as the left enthusiastically accused him of shirking his duty though he won’t even take office until January 15th. The blame for the disaster lies squarely with the Democratic sitting governor, Ralph Northam, who reportedly refused to take questions about it and was AWOL concerning the trapped drivers.

Lederman said traffic finally started to crawl after an 11-hour standstill but only northbound. Southbound lanes were still reportedly stopped for ‘miles’ according to Lederman. Many leftists commented on Lederman’s plight and the horrendous situation by blaming Gov-elect Youngkin.

Apparently, the Youngkin memo didn’t get out and leftists were allowed to falsely blame the incoming Republican governor for hours while Twitter allowed it.

Vitriolic tweets like the one below soon began to vanish off Twitter as leftists were made to eat crow:

“Some callers were sobbing and scared,” Dave Dildine, who is a traffic reporter for WTOP, stated. “Psychologically it is extremely distressing to be motionless on a highway for hours on end without knowing how much longer it will last.”

Democratic Senator Tim Kaine is among those trapped on the interstate.

As much as 11.5 inches of snow fell in the D.C. suburb of Capitol Heights, Maryland, and 10 inches in Rose Hill, Virginia by the time the storm was done Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures plummeted to the teens overnight. More than 400,000 customers in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast are without power.

“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Emily Clementson, who is a truck driver, told NBC Washington.

Reports said that as of 5 a.m. on Tuesday, the southbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 136 remained at a standstill.

Thousands of accidents and stranded vehicles were reported throughout central and northern Virginia during the storm. As of 3:30 p.m. Monday, Virginia State Police said troopers had responded to more than 2,000 calls for help due to treacherous road conditions.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is assuring everyone that work is being done to get them moving again.

“We wish we had a timetable, ETA or an educated guess on when travel will resume on I-95. It’s at a standstill in our area with multiple incidents,” they tweeted. “Its frustrating & scary. Please know our crews don’t stop. Crews will work 24/7 until ALL state-maintained roads are safe for travel.”

Governor Northam finally popped his head up and sent out tweets Tuesday morning trying to do damage control.

“My team has been working throughout the night alongside @VSPPIO, @VaDOT, and @VDEM to respond to the situation on I-95,” he tweeted.

“An emergency message is going to all stranded drivers connecting them to support, and the state is working with localities to open warming shelters as needed. While sunlight is expected to help @VaDOT clear the road, all Virginians should continue to avoid 1-95,” the governor added.

State and local emergency personnel are continuing on Tuesday to clear downed trees, assist disabled vehicles, and re-route drivers.
