Bucs pull about-face, Antonio Brown reportedly still on team. Updates after meltdown.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown is evidently still with his team and has not been released as of Monday night regardless of what Coach Bruce Ariens told reporters following his spectacular meltdown on the field.

Arians commented to the press after the incident that Brown is “no longer a Buc.”

On Monday, during a briefing when asked by the media about Brown, the coach appeared to avoid the issue.

“That’s up to [general manager Jason Licht] and what he wants to do,” Arians remarked about whether Brown was still with the team or not.

ESPN is reporting that the Buccaneers are speaking with the NFL about how to move forward following Brown’s actions. Some sort of discipline is expected after he made a scene and left the stadium in the middle of the game against the New York Jets. However, currently, he’s still on the team’s roster.

When Arians was asked about being criticized for giving Brown a second chance, he said he could “give a sh*t” what critics think, according to Boston.com.

Then he radically changed his tune. “Never seen anything like it in all my years,” Arians remarked to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

Arians also told Peter King, the Football Morning in America author, that Brown “had that look in his eye that I haven’t seen for a long time.”

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio remarked Sunday on NBC’s “Football Night in America” that a team that is desperately looking for a win at the Super Bowl might snatch up Brown despite his eccentricities.

“The organization is very concerned about his mental health. … That’s the short-term focal point. But, if they do move forward releasing him — he passes through waivers, if he’s not claimed by another team, he becomes a free agent,” Florio noted.

“And it’s easy to say based on what we saw today that it’s over, it’s done, no one else is going to give him another second chance. But talent always finds a way, and there are teams out there that are trying to win playoff games and pursue Super Bowl championships, and he helped the Buccaneers get one last year. So, if whatever happened today can be explained, and it settles down, you can’t rule out another team possibly taking a chance on Antonio Brown at some point over the balance of the season,” he added.

Brown claims he had an ankle injury and did not want to play but Arians asserts that the wide receiver never told him about it, according to Fox News. The coach and Brown had a “conversation” before he left the field. It’s unknown what was said during the confab.

Brown wrote a goodbye message on Instagram and has been touting his new rap song.

He made his first public appearance on Monday night following his meltdown.

Brown took in a Brooklyn Nets game while awaiting his fate in the NFL. He was seen at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as the Nets took on the Memphis Grizzlies.
