In the never-ending attempt to denigrate protester Ashli Babbitt after she was shot and killed on Jan. 6, 2020, the AP ran a smear piece to mark the anniversary of her death in an effort to deflect from actions by the Democrats following her shooting.

The media outlet dredged up an incident where Babbitt reportedly rammed her vehicle into an SUV three times and then pounded on the window of Celeste Norris challenging her to a fight. The AP, of course, referred to Babbitt as an “insurrectionist.”

Norris claims that Babbitt had an affair with her longtime live-in boyfriend, Aaron Babbitt, before marrying him. It’s interesting that this surfaces a year after Babbitt was killed now that she can’t defend herself over the accusation.

The woman asserts that when she found about the affair she called Babbitt’s then-husband, Timothy McEntee, to tell him his wife was cheating on him.

“She pulls up yelling and screaming,” Norris told The Associated Press in an “exclusive” interview. The encounter occurred on July 29, 2016, in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

“It took me a good 30 seconds to figure out who she was. … Just all sorts of expletives, telling me to get out of the car, that she was going to beat my ass,” she recounted saying she then called 911 and waited for the police to arrive. Babbitt was reportedly charged with numerous misdemeanors.

This story failed to make its way into the leftist media for a year. Then suddenly near the one-year anniversary of the Air Force veteran’s death, it comes to light.

The AP then segued into asking whether Babbitt was the martyr she is made out to be. Considering she was unarmed and the only one shot to death on that day, that seems to be a specious argument. After all this time, the left just can’t let the Babbitt story go. It’s the old smear and blame tactic when you can’t adequately defend the indefensible.

The leftist media bullhorn was quick to bring Trump into the mix. He has previously called Babbitt “an incredible person.” Trump also demanded that the Justice Department reinvestigate Babbitt’s death. The officer who shot her was cleared of any wrongdoing by two prior federal investigations under the control of a leftist and biased Biden administration.

In a video on Babbitt’s birthday, Trump stated, “Together we grieve her terrible loss. There was no reason Ashli should have lost her life that day. We must all demand justice for Ashli and her family, so on this solemn occasion as we celebrate her life, we renew our call for a fair and nonpartisan investigation into the death of Ashli Babbitt.”

The AP went on to push that Babbitt was consumed by pro-Trump conspiracy theories and that she posted “angry screeds on social media.” Then they voiced the standard talking point from the left when going after conservatives that she had a history of making violent threats.

It appears that the media considers Babbitt, who was a Libertarian and supported the Second Amendment, to still be a threat. She was against illegal immigration, stood against COVID mask mandates, and didn’t like Democrats which also seemingly incensed the liberal outlet. They also made sure to link her with QAnon in the hit piece.

The Norris story is meant to besmirch the reputation of Babbitt who was said to have been loved by many who met her. The encounter between Norris and Babbitt was evidently reported on by The AP previously, but they decided to drag it out again. This time with Norris herself speaking on the incident for added benefit.

A case report from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office that was obtained by the AP shows Ashli Babbitt was issued a criminal summons on charges of reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor defined under Maryland law as engaging in conduct “that creates a substantial risk of death or serious physical injury to another.” She was also charged with malicious destruction of property for the damage to Norris’ vehicle.

Later, the charges were updated to include reckless driving, negligent driving, and failure to control a vehicle’s speed to avoid a collision.

The encounter between Babbitt and Norris has nothing to do with her death and it is a stretch to run a piece almost one year after the tragedy in an apparent attempt to smear a woman who paid the ultimate price for protesting what she considered to be a fraudulent election.
