A very “irrational” left-wing zealot is being pilloried on Twitter for talking trash about the so-called “right wing douches” who’ve been standing up to the “selfishness” of some of America’s teachers.
At issue is that some teachers have once again begun calling for remote learning despite the widespread availability of the coronavirus vaccine and booster, in addition to the fact that the Omicron variant is significantly milder than previous strains of the virus.
Multiple studies have shown that remote learning has been disastrous for children and parents alike, particularly children and parents who are minorities.
“Although educational disparities already existed for Black, Latino and low-income Maryland students before the COVID-19 pandemic, they have only gotten more jarring since classes went online, according to researchers,” D.C. radio station WTOP reported in November of 2020, citing a student from the University of Maryland School of Public Health.
“Virtual school is fostering isolation in children and stress in parents, according to a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The findings confirm previous research into the deleterious emotional and physical effects of keeping children out of school,” Yahoo News reported months later in March of 2021.
Plus, studies have shown that for children, “the risk of COVID causing severe illness and hospitalization is much lower compared to adults,” as noted by Harvard Medical School. This especially holds true for the milder Omicron variant.
But facts such as these do not appear to matter to the likes of National Educators United, an allegedly grassroots teachers’ union rooted in left-wing politics: support for so-called “equity,” support for illegal migration, support for eliminating charter schools and standardized testing, etc.
On New Year’s Eve, the group posted to Twitter a petition calling for the federal government to institute a nationwide two-week pause on in-person learning “at minimum”:
An alarming increase of COVID transmission rates nationwide, coupled with a scarcity of covid tests and N-95 masks have placed our communities in immediate danger. National #2weeks pause NOW to #ProtectOurCommunity #Unite4SafeSchools

While the petition purported to be about protecting everybody, it provoked widespread backlash from frustrated parents and even some teachers who’re convinced that what this is really about is teachers once again exploiting the pandemic for gain.
View some of the backlash below:
I used to be a public school teacher and this is embarrassing. Our kids have suffered enough. Do your job.

The public school system is being held hostage by teachers and teachers unions.
I can’t imagine being a parent and not homeschooling or sending my kids to private schools.
— Timmy Marrinan (@TDMarrinan) January 1, 2022
My kid’s private school has announced that it’ll be open, as scheduled, because the well-being of children is a top priority. And because vaccines work. The teachers have happily been in-person since August of 2020.

Why are people in “immediate danger”? Because you want to get paid (yet again) for not working?? So glad you actually prioritize “education.” Well done. So much respect for your commitment to the kids and your bravery!!!

Good then that goes for all the food stores, banks, truck drivers, etc. When you can’t get food or money too bad! Go to work or quit! It’s all about you sitting at home while others have up go to work. Go work at a food store or hospital and then complain…selfishness

Meanwhile, there’s a party in Times Square. 🙄

“Two weeks.”
Sounds awfully familiar. Just can’t seem to place where I’ve heard that before.
— Goalie Medic 🇺🇲 (@GoalieMedic37) January 1, 2022
Didn’t all teachers just have a 2 week pause for Christmas and New Years break?
— Logan (@ChiSportsThesis) December 31, 2021
We need a two week pause on paying school taxes.

Fearing for my life. I choose Puerto Rico! 🇵🇷😂 pic.twitter.com/3IgaaYrsIC

Critics say this is just another example of teachers trying to exploit the pandemic just like the Chicago Teachers Union vice president seen in the latter tweet. This woman, Sarah Chambers, hopped a flight to Puerto Rico for a vacation in January of 2020 at the same time that she was loudly advocating for Chicago’s schools to remain closed.
This was no one-time incident. Speaking on Fox News that same month, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican, noted that “all across the country,” teachers’ union members and bosses were “publicly oppos[ing] returning to school while engaging in acts of brazen hypocrisy.”
But it gets worse. Previous reporting shows that large quantities of the COVID relief funds that were doled out to schools as per the demands of teachers’ unions were funneled into the hands of teachers as “thank you” bonuses.
This is some pretty shady stuff, yet according to left-wing Twitter user Molly Shah, the real “douches” are those who have chosen to stand up against these unions, particularly National Educators United.
Below is how she responded to the backlash that was directed at NEU:
Bunch of right wing douches decided to pile on teachers who are like putting their lives at risk to teach https://t.co/hKb0mZFX2N
— Molly Shah (@MollyOShah) January 1, 2022
It’s as if she’d automatically dismissed all of the valid criticism. And indeed, she quickly made it so that only those whom she follows or has mentioned could reply, therefore cutting herself off from the criticism now being directed her way.
While she’s certainly entitled to shield herself from this criticism, the world is equally entitled to keep the criticism coming, regardless of whether or not she chooses to heed it.

Teachers aren’t putting their lives at risk to teach, grow the fuck up you child https://t.co/WcbTSg260n

So confident in your tweet that you limit who can respond AND mute the conversation. #Brave https://t.co/8hSUIivZ9g

Proud “douche” here. My students, both in and out of the home, matter more than me. They are the hope for a bright future. Stop being irrational and selfish. https://t.co/pyIua7GnlX

Why are teachers risking there lives more so than healtcare, service industry, retail employees?
Stop the drama, go to work or be fired. The normal folks of America are sick of all your bullshit. Shut up, teach parent approved curriculum and keep your politics to yourself! https://t.co/7lZ9TiU917

Remember back in March of 2020, when we shut down the whole country for two weeks? Then two weeks became 45 days. Then 45 days became “when there’s herd immunity.” Then that became “when we have a vaccine.” Then, “when EVERYONE’s vaccinated.”
Never again, Molly. EVER! https://t.co/nsukVobahN

Hi sweetie. Too afraid of replies I see.
Answer a question for me, do you grow, harvest, slaughter all your own food? No? How are you eating?
Get your a$$ in the classroom and teach. Wait, better yet, quit. https://t.co/0mlVp4SX7X— Seamus – Rapidly Becoming Ungovernable (@ff_nerdy) January 2, 2022
