For some inexplicable reason, the people who loudly lecture others the most about the coronavirus and its potentially deadly impact always turn out to be hypocrites.

Chicago Teachers Union executive board member and local area vice president Sarah Chambers, a far-left activist who thinks “white silence is violence” and reportedly works as a local grade school special education teacher, is no different.

For weeks she and her allies at the Chicago Teachers Union have lobbied to stop Chicago from reopening its schools in January, despite numerous reports and studies showing that remote schooling is hurting children both academically and mentally.

Many children “are suffering emotionally, mentally and even physically from so many hours, often alone, in front of a computer screen,” The Washington Post reported in November.

USA Today added in its own report that “millions of students attending school virtually this year” are “floundering academically, socially and emotionally. And as the pandemic heaves into a winter surge, a slew of new reports show alarming numbers of kids falling behind, failing classes or not showing up at all.”

Yet as recently as Thursday, Chambers posted a tweet encouraging local teachers to sign a “collective letter pledging to oppose — and take action against — the mayor’s” plan to reopen Chicago’s schools.

Look:

But what makes her apparent disregard for the welfare of children even more appalling is a bombshell report from local station WGN showing that she’d been vacationing in Puerto Rico at the same time that she’d written the tweet.

“Just a few hours earlier, Chambers posted a picture on Instagram that appears to show her poolside in Puerto Rico and talking about going to Old San Juan for seafood. The post also mentions she previously had COVID, got a negative test result and consulted her doctor before traveling,” the station has confirmed.

Watch the station’s report below:

Chambers set her profile to private immediately following the report’s publication.

However, WGN managed to capture some screenshots beforehand:

The hypocrisy is astounding, though Chambers has only doubled and tripled down on her behavior, arguing on Twitter that it was perfectly OK for her to go on vacation.

Observe:

But for someone who’s spent weeks and months lecturing Chicago officials about the threat of the coronavirus, she seems stunningly uneducated about this very topic.

“Travelers should avoid all travel to Puerto Rico. Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19,” the Centers for Disease Control clearly state.

The hypocrisy, double standards and disregard for children have spawned a whirlwind of social media backlash against Chambers.

Look at some of the backlash below, and note the first Twitter user’s argument that, if “testing and masks work for flights and pina colada pool parties,” then they should “certainly work for doing your *job* and teaching low-risk kids”:

As noted by the latter Twitter user, even National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, who at times has been accused of fear-mongering over the coronavirus, has acknowledged the need to reopen schools.

“The default position should be to try as best as you possibly can to open up the schools for in-person learning. It’s important for the children because of the psychological benefit, and in some places, even for the nutrition of children who rely on the breakfast and the lunches in school and proper nutrition,” he said in August.

Listen:

But Chambers obviously disagrees, because to her, being allowed to sit around doing absolutely nothing on a Puerto Rican Beach is apparently more important.
