U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene believes people moving to Republican-leaning states to escape the disasters wrought by Democrats in their own states need to have a “cooling off” period before being allowed to vote.

The Georgia Republican chimed in on a Twitter discussion Wednesday, contending that “brainwashed people” who move from California and New York bring their political beliefs with them to the conservative states they move to, such as Texas and Florida.

The outspoken congresswoman noted a “National Divorce scenario” in response to a Twitter user who supported “actively discriminating against transplants like this through legislation. They shouldn’t be able to vote for a period, and they should have to pay a tax for their sins.”

The reactions came from a thread posted by a man who tweeted that he was moving from the San Francisco Bay area to Miami, complaining about the “worse politics” in the Florida city.

“After Democrat voters and big donors ruin a state like California, you would think it wise to stop them from doing it to another great state like Florida,” Greene tweeted Wednesday.

“Brainwashed people that move from CA and NY really need a cooling off period,” she added after the comment about a national divorce between Republican and Democratic-leaning states.

Greene came under fire back in October as critics accused her of advocating for civil war when she conducted a social media survey on whether Americans would want states separated based on their political leanings.

“So many people tell me daily how devastated they are over the state of our union on every level, and I completely share their utter disgust and heartbreak for the condition of our country,” Greene wrote at the time. “National Divorce is talked about often privately, but not publicly, so I took a poll.”
