Bitter liberal political commentator Keith Olbermann decided to take aim at Sen. Mitt Romney and his large extended family on Twitter after they sent out a Christmas photo, suggesting that someone provide them with birth control.
“‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’ From my family to yours, Merry Christmas!” Romney tweeted.
Olbermann, who has no children of his own, caustically tweeted in reply, “Somebody gift these people some vasectomies.”
The Republican senator is Mormon and from Utah. He and his wife Anne have fives sons and dozens of grandchildren.

Olbermann, who has basically become irrelevant these days, was swiftly rebuked on social media.
Jack McGuire of Barstool Sports compared the soulless pundit to Scrooge, writing, “I think one of the saddest potential of a human is to grow old, but have no descendants. Keith Olbermann has no children. Just an empty penthouse near Central Park where he yells at people about vaccines all day like the Scrooge. I feel bad for him. It’s a sad life.”
Instead of realizing that what he said was vicious and uncalled for, Olbermann reveled in the criticism and retweeted a biting comment from National Conservative editor Austin Drake.
“Mitt Romney – 5 children and 52 years of marriage vs. Keith Olbermann – never married and no children. I think we know who the better man is,” Drake tweeted.
“Thanks for the compliment!” Olbermann snarkily replied.

Others also lambasted the liberal pundit for his hateful rhetoric, especially at Christmas. Some Twitter users called his barb rude and inappropriate while others could not figure out why the seemingly innocuous photo elicited such a rabid response from Olbermann.
“Lonely childless Boomer has thoughts on vast loving family send Tweet,” tweeted Federalist publisher Ben Domenech.
Elizabeth Bruenig, who is a staff writer for The Atlantic, wrote, “Keith have you ever seen family sizes in developing countries, do you think they need to stop reproducing too[?]”

“Why do western elites hate fruitful families?” asked pro-life Nigerian activist and scientist Obianuju Ekeocha in response to Olbermann’s tweet. “They probably prefer some sterile cohabiting adults and perhaps some cool neutered pets, but hate to see beautiful fruitful families. Shame on you Keith.”
“Stop insulting large families,” Mercedes Schlapp, who worked in the Trump White House, heatedly responded on Twitter.
Naturally, in response to the severe backlash, Olbermann continued to attack Romney.
He shared a statement that Romney released last October where he mentioned Olbermann by name while criticizing the state of U.S. politics during former President Trump’s administration.
In his statement, Romney decried the “vile, vituperative, hate-filled morass” that U.S. politics had become, and then highlighted inflammatory statements that Trump had made as well as “blistering attacks” from figures across the political aisle. Romney recounted that Olbermann had called Trump a “terrorist.”
“While we’re on the subject of @MittRomney a reminder that on October 13, 2020, just 86 days before the Terrorist Donald Trump engineered the worst act of domestic terrorism in our history, Mittens got mad at me for…calling Trump a terrorist,” Olbermann tweeted, trying to justify his actions. Evidently, he holds a grudge to the grave and isn’t afraid to spew hatred at every opportunity to settle a score.

He capped it all off by attacking Romney for having dinner with former President Trump.
Oh yeah, I’ve forgotten. What’s the technical term within Mitt’s religion for THIS…is it “treating” with the devil or do I have the verb wrong? pic.twitter.com/tG2KXY4QLl

Olbermann was excoriated for his bitter, vengeful attack against Romney and his family:
Having the thought and knowing WHEN NOT TO SAY IT is a valuable life skill, and one Keith obviously hasn’t yet acquired

So you saw a family photo with a comment wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and you thought “You know what this needs? An insult.”?

Plenty to criticize regarding Romney’s politics. His family’s Christmas picture isn’t one of them, however.

Imagine taking someone’s Christmas picture of their family and criticizing it and thinking you are making the world a more tolerant or loving place. Sad.
Sometimes the best example is a bad example.
