Green Bay Packers superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers shattered the legendary NFL team’s all-time passing touchdown record on Saturday when he slung a first-quarter dart to Allen Lazard, but it was his postgame interview with Fox sideline reporter Erin Andrews that generated social media buzz.

On Christmas Day, the Packers defeated the woebegone Cleveland Browns 24-22, moving the team closer to clinching the NFC’s number one overall seed for the upcoming playoffs and in the process, Rodgers topped Hall Of Famer Brett Favre’s 442 career scores through the air with the Lambeau Field faithful bearing witness to a piece of history.

He would go on to add two more touchdowns to his total before triumphantly walking off of the field but not before a bit of the COVID theatre that is once again raging through sports when he talked about his accomplishment with Andrews while socially distancing before embracing the reporter as he headed to the locker room.

The contradictory message was likely seen by millions who tuned in to the nationally televised NFL holiday contest, further confusing viewers who have been subjected to 24/7 fearmongering from the Biden administration and its media mouthpieces since the discovery of the Omicron variant which has led to a renewed wave of restrictions, cancelled flights and postponed sports events.

Many took to Twitter to weigh in on the interview

Alex Reimer, deputy managing editor for LGBTQ sports website Outsports.com tweeted, “Erin Andrews hugging Aaron Rodgers at the end of a socially distanced interview is the TV equivalent of wearing your mask on the way to the table and then taking it off for the rest of the meal.”

Brad Logan of 247 Sports chimed in, “I have no problem with the embrace at all. I do have a problem with the mental gymnastics, pearl clutching of the outdated Covid protocols and theatre.”

“Thank goodness Aaron Rodgers and Erin Andrews kept six feet apart during the interview to stay safe … before exchanging a hug together afterward,” wrote radio host Scot Bertram.

“Erin Andrews stood like 10 feet from Aaron Rodgers on camera. Interview ends. Erin Andrews hugs Aaron Rodgers. All on national TV. And we wonder why the country is confused as hell,” added radio host Colin Dunlap.

Sports talk host Donnie Seymour wrote, “Erin Andrews and Aaron Rodgers have to do an interview separated by 10 ft because of Covid Optics. After the interview is over they high five and hug. Hahahhaha.”

Former sports anchor Justin Beasley wrote, “Erin Andrews stands 10-feet away then hugs Aaron Rodgers. It’s all a show people.”

Sports radio personality Dan Sileo didn’t sugarcoat anything, “Total media Bullsh*t again!!”

Rodgers is firmly on track for the league’s MVP award and possibly a shot at another Super Bowl ring but things weren’t looking so good earlier this season when the 38-year-old veteran was ripped to shreds by the media after he tested positive for COVID, leading to vilification that he misled the team about his vaccination status.

After he contracted the virus, the quarterback sought out the advice of podcaster Joe Rogan who had also come down with COVID before throwing the “kitchen sink” at it, including the use of ivermectin which really triggered Fox Sports studio host Terry Bradshaw who called Rodgers a liar while invoking the “horse dewormer” talking point that media has used to discredit a drug that many have credited with being a successful remedy.

The other quarterback in the Christmas Day game, Cleveland’s Baker Mayfield struggled mightily after being benched by the NFL’s COVID protocols which he harshly criticized. Mayfield had a horrific afternoon, repeatedly misfiring on his throws while chucking four interceptions, the last of which ended the Browns’ hopes of a miraculous comeback in the waning seconds.

With the playoffs set to start in two more weeks and every game on national television, it’s probably reasonably safe to predict that fans will be subjected to an extended run of COVID theater.
