Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) told “Fox News Primetime” host Brian Kilmeade on Wednesday that he hasn’t decided if he’ll answer a letter from Democrats and has severe doubts about the House Jan. 6 select committee’s integrity after they reportedly altered documents in connection to the Capitol riot.
“It looks like the Jan. 6 committee, who didn’t want you on them, on the Jan. 6 committee, might want you in front of them to take questions. What will your reaction be? Will it be the same as Mark Meadows — take a walk — or would you sit down and speak to them?” asked Kilmeade.
“I mean, we just got the letter today, Brian,” Jordan replied. “We’re gonna review the letter. But I’ve got to be honest with you. I got real concerns about any committee that will take a document and alter it and present it to the American people, completely mislead the American people like they did last week. And it turns out, it looks like it wasn’t just one document they did this with. It was others, other text messages as well. So I got real concerns with that.”
Kilmeade ended the segment by sarcastically stating, “I just know this, Jim. Don’t worry about those text messages getting out. I can’t see that ever happening with this committee.”
The Committee has requested that Rep Jim Jordan provide information for the committee’s investigation.

Jordan was referencing a hearing earlier this month where Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) read part of a forwarded text that Jordan sent to Meadows, the former White House chief of staff.
The text, which Schiff attributed to an unnamed lawmaker, said then-Vice President Mike Pence “should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all” during the election certification process on Jan. 6. Sources confirmed to CNN that Schiff read only a portion of the full text sent by Jordan.
The message, which was taken out of context with added punctuation to make it appear complete while using a graphic to illustrate it, was part of a four-page document that outlined the legal reasoning behind Vice President Mike Pence’s authority to object to electoral certification from a number of states. The document was published publicly ahead of Jan. 6 on everylegalvote.com.

Maryland Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin also read a text message sent to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows that allegedly came from a “House lawmaker” aimed at overthrowing President Biden’s electoral college majority.
“HERE’s an AGGRESSIVE STRATEGY,” the text proclaimed. “Why can t [sic] the states of [Georgia] [North Carolina] [Pennsylvania] and other R controlled state houses declare this is BS (where conflicts and election not called that night) and just send their own electors to vote and have it go to the SCOTUS.”
Raskin would later retract his initial attribution to a “House lawmaker,” according to The Federalist. A spokesman for the congressman told CNN it was a mistake. Anonymous sources told the network that CNN described it as an “inadvertent error.”

Committee Chair Bennie Thompson (D-MS) wrote in a letter sent to Jordan, “We understand that you had at least one and possibly multiple communications with President Trump on January 6th. We would like to discuss each such communication with you in detail. And we also wish to inquire about any communications you had on January 5th or 6th with those in the Willard War Room, the Trump legal team, White House personnel or others involved in organizing or planning the actions and strategies for January 6th.”
The committee is also interested in “any discussions involving the possibility of presidential pardons for individuals involved in any aspect of January 6th or the planning for January 6th,” Thompson stated.
Jordan has not concealed the fact that he spoke with former President Trump on January 6th. He told Spectrum News in July that he had done so.
Ohio's @Jim_Jordan confirms to me:
“I spoke with [Trump] on Jan. 6th."
Before, during or after attack?
“I spoke with him that day, after? I think after. I don't know if I spoke with him in the morning or not. I just don't know…I don't know when those conversations happened.” pic.twitter.com/h4fbuMYtk0

Jordon was originally tapped by Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (D-CA) to serve on the Jan. 6 committee. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) rejected him and now the Democrats are trying to go after the outspoken conservative.
McCarthy would go on to withdraw all of his nominees and Pelosi chose two never-Trump Republicans for the committee… Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). Most conservatives consider the panel a farce intent on a witchhunt against Republicans.
