Florida Democrats are in a panic over what they perceive to be a sustained and coordinated campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris on Spanish-language media where she is reportedly extremely unpopular.

Leading Democrats in the state have been caught off-guard by the aggressive attacks on Harris’ character and performance. They involve both callers and guests on local radio programs over the last few weeks. Paranoia has enveloped leftists who now believe the incidents are part of a larger, astroturf effort to further tarnish her reputation among key Latino constituents there if that is even possible.

The explanation is most likely the fact that no one seems to like Harris. She only has herself to blame for her poor and unacceptable performance. But Democrats are running with the astroturf angle just as they did with the Tea Party. Her own party in the state has not pushed back against the perception that Harris is incompetent as well as unlikeable.

The whole “they’re out to get us” mantra started with a Miami-based Democratic pollster who warned on social media that he thought Spanish talk-radio guests were saying bad things about Harris, according to Politico, which of course must be scripted by conservatives.

“The fact that I’m having to raise this alarm, that it’s not coming directly from a Democratic organization or even the folks out of Washington, I think is a sign of concern,” proclaimed Fernand Amandi, who is a political strategist who helped Barack Obama win the state in 2008 and 2012.

Amandi claimed that the calls struck him “as weird because [Harris] is not really a topic of conversation down here. The focus is always on the Democrats as a party, on Biden, local officials.”

What Amandi and other leftists are calling attacks appear to be solidly based criticisms of Harris and her performance while in office. The comments are on a wide range of complaints including incompetence, ineffectiveness, ill-preparedness, sexism, and racism. That would include allegedly prioritizing black Americans over the concerns of Latinos.

Amandi is claiming to have heard the same talking points on multiple channels. He said when he went to another station, a caller was “talking about Kamala Harris, and they [said] the same thing. ‘This is the woman who’s done nothing.’ It was a different person than was on the other [station]. And I was like, ‘Oh God, they got a phone bank.’”

Once again, just as with the Tea Party, there is no credible proof of a coordinated campaign against Harris. The accusation, however, is straight out of the Democratic playbook.

Roberto Rodríguez Tejera, who is a morning radio host, also told Politico that he has noticed the trend in calls about Harris on his own morning show. Unsurprisingly, he came to the same conclusion as Amandi on the so-called attacks being coordinated. He could not identify any suspects but was quick to assert Republicans were behind all of it.

“It’s not like you get 10 calls every day. It’s not like that. You get a couple of calls here, a couple of calls there,” Rodriguez stated. “That’s how the phone banks begin that [have] worked,” he accused. “But it’s a trend that you see that is growing by the day; is growing by the week.”

“They’re starting early. ‘We must begin to attack her now and make her look like a demon.’ And the problem with that is that the Democratic Party doesn’t realize that this narrative is being born in Miami-Dade County, and it will spread to other Hispanics across the U.S,” declared Sasha Tirador, who is a Democratic operative in Florida.

Tirador asserted that if Democrats don’t start knocking down the narrative as it swells, it’s going to be nearly impossible to “convince all these elderly folks and your typical Hispanics that just listen to AM radio that what they’ve been listening to that ‘Kamala is bad’ is not true in three months, which is what Democrats like to do. They like to swoop in at the last moment and campaign, and that’s why it doesn’t work.”

“It’s like watching a termite crawl across the wooden beams of your house,” Amandi said concerning the Harris calls. “One may be nothing, but it also may be a sign that there’s a colony slowly but surely eating away the foundation. It’s best to investigate and deal with the situation as opposed to walking in one day and seeing your house falling apart at the seams.”

Asked about the Harris calls, DNC spokesperson Ammar Moussa contended it was “no surprise that there’s an apparently coordinated campaign to attack her with thinly veiled sexist and racist smears — it’s something she’s faced her entire career. Americans know the vice president is delivering for them and they will see right through this campaign of lies.”

Alfonso Aguilar, who is the president of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles and an occasional guest on talk radio in South Florida, pointed out that many Hispanics are unhappy with Harris for her record on immigration and inflation. He called suspicions of a concerted call-in campaign against her “absolutely ridiculous.”

“I just think that people are calling because our borders are out of control,” Aguilar said, according to The Washington Times. “She’s the ‘border czar’ and she hasn’t been to the border. She hasn’t certainly been talking to Central American presidents to deal with the root causes, which we know from a recent visit of the president of Guatemala. Does Kamala Harris come up? Absolutely. It’s a national issue. So just like mainstream media talks about it, Spanish-language is going to talk about it.”

Harris doesn’t need a coordinated campaign to tarnish her image… she did that all by herself:
