A Texas man in his fifties, who was unvaccinated and had contracted COVID previously, is being touted as the first person in the U.S. to die from the Omicron variant, despite the fact that officials will not reveal what underlying conditions he reportedly had that may have contributed to his death.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo solemnly made the announcement on Monday night. She did not address what the man’s underlying conditions were that contributed to his passing, according to the Daily Mail. That point is an important component of his diagnosis and is suspiciously being reported as “unknown.”

During the same time period, the Centers for Disease Control also confirmed that Omicron is now the dominant strain of the virus in the nation and accounts for roughly 73 percent of all new cases that are being reported.

The victim was not identified. He was ostensibly treated with Regeneron antibody therapy, according to the Daily Mail.

“My phone was ringing, and it was the public health director telling me we just had our first Omicron-related death,” Hildago dramatically stated.

“A man in his fifties, resides in Harris County Precinct 2. I know for folks in Harris County this feels like whiplash… It is so frustrating. I feel it too. I understand the impulse to just tune out the latest news and be sick and tired of all of this, but as we’ve been expecting, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 has arrived in full force,” she declared.

Officials such as Hidalgo wasted no time after the man passed, pounding their podiums, demanding the unvaccinated get the jab and those who are vaccinated get a booster.

“The evidence shows that for those vaccinated and with the booster, it is much, much less likely that they are going to end up in the hospital,” Hildago proclaimed warning everyone within the sound of her voice that the variant was spreading “incredibly quickly” in her county. She went on to note cases were doubling in two to three days in comparison to Delta which took 11 days to double. What she didn’t cover was the severity of the contagion.

“Omicron is producing breakthrough infections. This does not mean the vaccine doesn’t work – on the contrary, it is keeping people out of hospitals,” she claimed.

“Every day we learn something new about this virus. We do know the vaccine and booster will keep the number of hospitalizations very low,” Hildago stated as if she were reading from a prepared script promoting Omicron talking points.

“The time to get your booster shot is now,” she admonished while raising the threat level to orange. “As we approach Christmas and New Year – give yourself, and give your family, the gift of health.”

She told Texans to remain vigilant and wear their masks.

“Protect yourself, and let’s protect the sense of normalcy we’ve had,” she ironically concluded.

Despite President Biden’s warning of a winter of death for those who are not vaccinated and the media hyping that hospitals are full and that there is no proof that Omicron is milder than the Delta variant, many health officials are asserting that the hype is way overblown.

Most of the symptoms of Omicron are very similar to the common cold, according to the New York Post. They include night sweats, a scratchy throat, a dry cough, extreme fatigue, and mild muscle aches.

Not all health officials are predicting doom and gloom with Omicron.

KPIX5 is reporting that health experts in the San Francisco Bay area believe that Omicron will infect a lot of people, but probably won’t make them very sick.

“If, in fact, it is relatively benign,” posited Marin County Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis. “So let’s say it’s a much less severe illness and the rate of people becoming hospitalized who are infected is much lower than Delta.”

Willis asserted that for the vaccinated who are exposed to the variant, it might simply produce a mild immune response, not unlike a booster.

“It’s almost like a vaccine,” he remarked. “It provides a layer of immunity, across the entire population.”

“Even though we are boosted already, and we will not necessarily be susceptible, we are going to get exposed to it and that is going to kick our immunity up even more,” stated UCSF Epidemiologist Dr. George Rutherford. “We don’t have to get infected to get our immunity boosted.”
