An alleged off-duty probation officer was arrested for attempting to choke an NYPD cop who chased her adult son into his nearby home after he stole a beer from a deli in Brooklyn Wednesday night and fled the scene.

The suspect is 26-years-old and lives with his mother who is Swan Williams, 47. When the two officers pursued her son into his Rockaway Parkway home, Williams allegedly attempted to wrap her hands around one of the officer’s necks. News12 Long Island is reporting that she choked both officers. She also closed her door on them. The assault reportedly happened around 11 p.m.

The mother was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer and four counts of obstructing governmental administration, according to authorities. Her son was also arrested. The incident occurred in the 69th Precinct.

The officer who was assaulted by the incensed mother was treated at a nearby hospital and released according to police.

An official with the New York City Department of Probation later told PIX11 News that the woman had never worked for the department.

According to the NYPD, overall crime in New York City increased by 21.3% in November 2021. This incident is just one among many as New Yorkers feel extremely unsafe in their day-to-day lives.

The number of murders in New York City declined in November compared to 2020, but overall crime increased, with sharp upticks in burglary, robbery, felony assault, rape, and shootings.

Overall crime rose by 3.4% year to date through November in the Big Apple.

New data shows the city has seen a dramatic increase, 24%, in robberies while felony assaults increased by 11.2%. Not even the police themselves are immune to assault.

“The men and women of the NYPD have never wavered in their commitment to the collective public safety of all New Yorkers – as demonstrated by this ongoing, downward trend in violence,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a news release which does not seem to reflect reality in New York City.

“While their devotion to service is commendable, effective crime-fighting is predicated upon a collaborative effort from all aspects of the criminal justice landscape – as well as society as a whole. Additionally, our brave officers’ work must be reinforced by meaningful consequences that send a consequential message to those who find themselves on the path toward criminality,” Shea added according to Fox5.

Last weekend, there were 17 shooting incidents and 21 shooting victims in New York City according to Fox News. There were also 5 homicides reported.

Residents recently reported a number of other incidents, which included a man who threatened to kill a subway rider while wielding what police referred to as “wooden daggers,” and another man who brandished a sword in the hallway of an apartment building. A street vendor was stabbed and there was also at least one attempted rape.

Overall hate crimes rose by almost 100% this year in New York City. In 2021, there were 503 hate crimes compared to 252 in 2020 according to Fox5.

Anti-Asian attacks were the highest, followed by anti-Semitic attacks.

As long as liberal reform bail laws are in place releasing criminals back onto the streets of New York City, crime will almost assuredly continue to rise.
