Joseph McBride, who is an attorney representing several Jan. 6 defendants, told Fox News host Tucker Carlson that he is requesting that the government release explosive videos concerning at least 4 “agent provocateurs” that will reveal the “truth” about what happened that day.
“The truth is going to come out,” McBride adamantly told Carlson. “They cannot stop it. That is why we are asking for the government and the judge, quite frankly, to release these tapes and let the chips fall where they may.”
The lawyer has filed a motion in court “asking for the unmasking of these videos” in an effort to reveal the actual violence and alleged entrapment that occurred during the Capitol Hill riot.
According to McBride, the motion was “joined by The New York Times and a 16-point press conglomerate.” He claimed that “they signed on” because they “want to see the truth about what happened as well.”
The motion in question was filed on Dec. 1 in the case of Ryan Nichols, who is a 30-year-old former Marine from Texas. McBride asserts footage deemed sensitive by the Justice Department could exonerate him and other Jan. 6 defendants, according to The Epoch Times.
“We have more than a good-faith basis to make these allegations,” McBride told the media outlet. “We don’t have conclusive findings, but this is based on months of investigation. This is a call for answers.”
The attorney and his defendant Nichols claim the unreleased footage shows four suspected government agent provocateurs and their activities. Those four alleged infiltrators are nicknamed “RedFace45,” “GogglesMan,” “PippiLongScarf,” and “BirdMan.” The motion contends that the footage “shows multiple occurrences of police brutality, including a vicious beating given by a Metropolitan Police Department officer of an unarmed civilian woman.”
The woman is not named in the filing but is thought to be Rosanne Boyland, who died at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“Several members of this group circulated weapons and sprays throughout the crowd. Some members of this group were present in the now-infamous fight inside the tunnel,” McBride’s filing contends. “Additionally, other members of this group can first be seen on January 6th at the ellipse, then again during the march to the Capitol, and then in highly strategic places on the Western Terrace.”
RedFace45 (RF45) is reportedly seen in footage designated “highly sensitive” in connection to the West Terrace, where he allegedly “reaches into a uniformed officer’s supply bag and removes an item” at around 2:15 p.m.
“Yet he is never once hit or maced for his actions,” the filing asserts. “RF45 is seen passing weapons through the crowd on multiple occasions and is seen communicating with other suspicious persons through use of military hand signals. All this suggests that he is indeed an undercover agent.”
“Mr. Nichols is accused of participating in the tunnel fight. [PippiLongScarf] participated in the tunnel fight. Nichols is accused of spraying mace in front of the tunnel. PLS sprayed mace in front of the tunnel,” the filing states. “Clearly, Mr. Nichols will be able to raise cognizable claims of outrageous government conduct, entrapment, or estoppel by invitation if PLS is a government agent.”
All four of the alleged infiltrators are said to have interacted repeatedly with law enforcement during the riot.
Prosecutors accuse Nichols of “casting himself as a hero who was merely fighting back against officers who were ‘terrorizing’ civilians.”
“Indeed, Nichols now presents himself as, in essence, a political prisoner who is the subject of a ‘desperate and disgraceful’ prosecution,” U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves wrote in a statement. “These claims, which are preposterous, appear to reflect the same anti-government, conspiratorial views that motivated Nichols’ violent conduct on Jan. 6, 2021.”
Nichols has been arrested and jailed in Washington, D.C. since Jan. 18 on a number of charges, including civil disorder, disorderly conduct, and unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds.
The DOJ is weakly arguing that making the thousands of hours of suppressed Jan. 6 footage public would compromise the security of the Capitol Hill building by revealing “information less likely to be obtained through other means,” according to The Epoch Times.
